    Hey People,

I've only just put in a claim on the 16th May and recieved the "we are looking into your case" reply letter on the 22nd May.
After reading some of your posts on here I'm hopeful of getting most of my money here.
Certainly nice to know I'm not the only one!
Good luck to everyone who still has a case outstanding.

    Hi Mark

My HSBC dates are the same as yours! Snap!!!

Will be interesting to see how timescales progress.. if they do everything as they should be doing we should get things around the same time!! :j

    hi willenhall,

I did post this on the other thread too,

seems that hsbc start counting the 8 weeks from the day the 1st letter requesting a refund is put on their system, I sent my letter on the 5th march and they had it on their system on the 8th of march, I was all fired up to still to the timescales on this site but unfortunatly due to financial constraint i couldn't anyway when i was in a position to push on i realised it was 7 weeks and reading the threads hsbc did seem to be making offers after the 8 weeks unless it was at the court stage the they seem to get their hard heads on... so thought i'd leave it another week then foned them at the begining of the 9th, and lo and behold they said an offer had been sent and i recieved it two days later, foned them after recieving it to say was not happy with offer and eventually negotiated a figure and i'm just waiting for it to be credited, only did the 1st letter requesting refund.......

Obviously it is your choice as to which route you go but this was my experience of HSBC

    Hope this helps...
Hi, Thanks for your reply, it really helps. I am just wondering though, when you say from the first request letter going on their system, do you mean the letter asking for the statements (mine dated 12 march) or the letter requesting the actual charges (mine dated 1 May)? I have sent the second letter threatening court on 10th May and that gives 14 days to reply. Did you send that letter, and if so, how did you leave it then till 8 weeks was up when the last letter to them states they have to reply within 14 days? Also. how did you find out when the first letter went onto their system? Thanks for your help again. Debbie

Hi could you tell me who i have to send the Court claim bundle to now. Is it HSBC's solicitors or to them. I have already sent the solictors my charges and the POC.

    Thanks

You need to send a copy to the court and another to HSBC. Keep a copy for yourself. I received my offer within 48 hrs of HSBC receiving it...

On MCOL it says that my claim was acknowledged on 11/05/2007. What do I have to do? I hear talks of bundles and all sorts and am nervous...

Don't be nervous, it's all standard practice for HSBC. You need to wait until day 28 from date of service for HSBC to file defence. They will probaly do so and you will then receive a Notice of Transfer of Proceedings to your Local Court and then hear from your local court direct with instructions on what happens next. Just a waiting game for a while now...

  • Hi,
Newbie here, I have sent first letter, and had "looking into it" letter back with the "Listening to your comments" leaflet, which is where I guess people here are getting the 8 week timescale from.
I hear that generally a response with an offer is made after the 8 weeks, which is fine, I'm in no particular rush, however, is there any mileage in sending the 2nd letter threatening court ? as then I guess you are entitiled to commence court proceedings after the 8 weeks are up if you don't get a satisfactory response, rather than waiting a further 2 weeks after the 8. Hope that makes sense... cheers

If I were you I would still send the 2nd letter, it intimates that you are serious about your claim and, in the event that HSBC policy towards these matters change, you will still have covered yourself as far as your timescales go. Send the second letter and then play the waiting game if that suits you. Good luck!

I don't know it, somebody might do and let you know, but in the meantime, I know it's on this thread somewhere - about middway if you have time to look through...

  • Hi im new to the forums on here so dont know if this is the right place to post this.

Im claiming £1109.52 from hsbc, i posted my first letter on the 19th May 2007, and have recieved a response this morning 30th May 2007. The letter states

"I am looking into the matters you have raised and will contact you with a full response as soon as I have completed my investigations"

What do I need to do now, is this just a tactic to simply brush me aside, or is it likely to be a genuine letter and i am gonna hear from them?

    Any help greatly recieved

    Jamie
