hi, thanks for the reply, didn't want to antogonize them too much as i was worried they'd just knock any refund off my loan, when you say seperate loan, not sure what you mean, i am not overdrawn on the account i am claiming for, i also stick to the repayments of the loan.

    Thanks
  • Hi all,

I sent them the letter with the spreadsheet attached and it's been after 14 days...when i called them they said they have 8 weeks to respond.. surely 2 weeks? They claim the ombudsman gives them the 8 but i can't confirm this. Can anyone shed any light on this please?

It depends entirely on whose timescales you're using. Use yours and send the LBA after 14 days. If it helps, HSBC will come back to you in 8 weeks. The choice is yours what you do after your next letter. Have a look back through this thread to see what might be the best course of action for you.

Hey all. I have sent HSBC the first of Martin's letters giving them 40 days to supply details of all my charges over the last 6 years. Is this 40 days inc weekends and bank holidays or 40 working days? Thanks.x

I had the same problem, they told me that i would receive a list of all my charges / statements within 40 days, this is 40 working days, my 40 workings have been up about a week ago, and still haven't received them, the best thing to do is to register for internet banking and you print off your six years worth of statements.

Hi, I've sent the first letter to get statements about two months ago and still not heard anything, I sent a £10 check with letter, how long did it take you to get your statements back.

    many Thanks
    mark

the best thing to do is to register for internet banking and you can print off six years worth of statements, much easier than waiting for the HSBC.

a few months back i was charged £25 fee on my current account as money which had been taken out and there wasnt enuff.

however my student loan payment had been delayed by a few days and my accomm fees had been taken out in time and therefore it went into minus literally for a few days. i have tried explaining this to their cs but they have been !!!!.

is there anything i can do??? i really cant be bothered to write letters bak and forth.

    thanks

So why are you asking the question if you can't be bothered writing a few letters? Read Martin's article and follow the step by step guide, there is no magic answer :)

If you really can't be bothered writing letters then just write the charge off and get on with your life.

Nothing in this life comes without some work involved.
