The Bank has 40 days (not working days) to send them back to you. Did you send the letter Recorded Delivery, if so you should be able to check if it was received?Lou0 -

Remember that you are only entitled to interest once your claim has reached the court stage.Lou0 -
ok fair enough but why dosnt it say that on this page
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/viewnews.cgi?newsid1141050760,24632,
it might help people understand better if it did.
id like to know if any one has haggled with HSBC on
08465 028006 the number they give you in the offer letter

You mean this from the article? If you won via the courts, you would be entitled to add 8% interest (not compounded) on top from the date you were ‘first deprived’ of the money (i.e. the date of each charge). Therefore you may want to ask for the interest as part of the initial claim. It's important to understand that you are not legally entitled to interest unless you win in court, yet all prior letters are a tool of negotiation; think of it a bit like haggling

Hi I am in the process of claiming back 2,000 from hsbc, i telephoned them and was told the usual ''8 weeks'' so I've got till 28th june to wait for a decision. i currently have an outstanding ''managed loan'' with them which is far more than I am claiming, do you think that if they do offer me anything that they will give me the money or reduce my loan amount, to be honest I would rather have the money as I could reduce a full debt even if they only offered me half. If I went to court, would the judge rule that the money be used to reduce my debt?
Thanks0 -
Firstly you don't have to wait the 8 weeks unless you are going to complain via the Financial Ombudsman. If you are going the court route then you set the deadlines, 14 days per letter. Please read... http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=400981
As regards your managed loan, that would depend on the contract you have with them. If it is a separate loan then they can't use the funds to pay it off, neither can they call in the loan out of spite.Hamsters have no tact and diplomacy, nor do they want any.0
