Well, I haven't been completely idle for the last few weeks.

I got my statements together for my personal account and added up that I htought HSBC owed me about £1200 (with interest), so I wrote to them asking for it.

Today I just got a letter from them thanking me and promising they would 'look into it' and a flyer outlining what I could do if I didn't agree (Financial Omsbudsman etc)

I'm a little confused as to my next move. Should I write back asking them for the money again and say I expect a response in a set time frame, or wait a few weeks for another reply?

    Thanks!

They shouldn't really need very long as I gave them the page numbers and dates for the charges to make cross referencing nice and easy...

    Amount Claimed: £1200
    Amount Paid: £1200

Went all the way to court date. Two days after sending court bundle, received offer of full settlement. Advice is send court bundle early - due to work constraints I took 19 days to send my bundle in, offer quickly followed..

Well done Louloujs, I was waiting to see how your case went as I am slightly behind you, I have a court date for 15/06/07.
I have had a letter from DG solicitors 03/05/07 to ask for breakdown of charges, I duly sent them off! I received another letter 23rd saying that if I did not comply they would obtain a court order to make me send them!!!!
I was a bit loth to do so but I faxed them today.
The cheek of them!! I have provided the information 3 times now, and as they are employed by HSBC, I dont see why I have to!

Anyway I am soooooo pleased for you Louloujs, you have been mybiggest inspiration on this site and I would probably have jacked it in if it hadn't been for your A1 advice!!!!!!!!
    Well done again!!!!!!

vinegarverva, I've moved your post to loulou across to this thread so all the HSBC claimers can see it and take heart!
  • Thanks for these posts guys. I'm currently waiting for a court date - DG asked for my charges spreadsheet last week (which I faxed) so I guess it should all start to happen in a few weeks. Apparantly DG are overrun with claims but HSBC do seem to be behaving themselves and settling before court date.

They will probably defend a few days before the 28 days are up - they really like to drag it out but some people have got the money repaid earlier - it's difficult to tell. There are no reports of HSBC going to court, as far as I know - the always settle before.

They were quiet in this period with me too. Just keep an eye on the status of your claim online - if it gets to the 29th and they don't defend you can request 'judgment by default' - although I think they can still defend up to a few days afterwards.
