Surely, it's HSBC's responsibility to pass on the details ... not ours?
We missed out on the reclaim of nearly £5000 bank charges from HSBC, but picked up over £10000 in PPI claims against them instead. I am now debt free and working to help my other half clear hers

Yup, but it's not about supplying the details to them, it's about demonstrating to the judge how reasonable you are and how useless they are.
Hamsters have no tact and diplomacy, nor do they want any.

The print-out you get after you fax over the details will sit nicely in your court bundle (if it gets that far) - it's worth following up with a phone call if you can get through. I asked them to send me an email but that would just reveal their email address which was not mentioned on their letter.

    Good luck folks!

Hi Guys. I'm new to the posting on the forum but have been reading it for several weeks now while I was debating trying to reclaim bank charges from HSBC. After yet another bout of ridiculous charges I decided to go ahead with it. I have two accounts with HSBC and on one of them I incurred £300 worth of charges in just 2 months due to their inconsistency in rejecting dds. In feb when I was £1.18 over my agreed overdraft they rejected a dd for £26 and charged me £25 but in april when I was £4 over my agreed overdraft they PAID a dd of £99 and then charged me £50 for going over my overdraft!! On this account I have just asked for charges back by email. I have another account though which over the last 6 years has incurred much higher costs. I have no current activity on the account but the overdraft is considerably high. I hand delivered the first of Martin's letters, asking for a list of all the charges applied over the last 6 years, to my branch 2 weeks ago and have not heard anything yet. I have to say that after reading many posts on here I am suddenly very nervous about how far I will have to take this and how long it will take.

    Good point.

I suppose that I should get ready to prepare a spreadsheet of the charges, then, I guess ... which I will both fax and post by recorded delivery as I don't want them excusing that they haven't had it.

    Hi guys

The two week deadline for my 2nd letter for bank charges is up next Tuesday. I have been informed via my online banking that the Service Quality Team are still looking into my query and I should have a response within 8 weeks (so they have up to 6 weeks left now).

From reading this thread, I can see some people have done the court letter thing and othersw have waited their 8 weeks and either way, people have still got an offer or their money back.

Any advice on what I should do? While I need that dosh back (£2300) to go towards my maternity leave thats coming up, I dont really want to do the court thing just yet and want to give them the 8 weeks.

    Any advice?

    Thanks:rotfl:

I suppose its up to you. It looks like HSBC are actually getting back to people at the 8 week mark (maybe with a little promting at times!) but not always with the whole amount. It looks like a few people have rang them up after the intial offer has come through at the 8 weeks, and haggled on the phone to improve it. The way the court system is at the moment, people are getting dates in August, but at least your more likely to get the full amount, plus any interest and your court fee back. How desperate are you for the full amount, do you want the hassle with court?

I'm claiming £3430 + £654 interest, but I know if i can get £3000 out of HSBC before court i'll take it as it would make a huge difference to me. I've just sent my second letter yesterday threatening court, but i'm going to give them the 8 weeks to respond, as by the looks of things as soon as MCOL is filed they seem to be digging their heals in and waiting till the very end with everything. I'd like my money in June not Sept/Oct
Wage Day Advance, Quick Quid, Pounds to Pocket and Pounds Till Payday....i'm after you

Some have obviously allowed the bank the full eight weeks ... for mie, I followed the guide on the BBC which was to send one letter to the bank asking for the money in 14 days or you would file at court without any further warning to the bank. They sent me the same letter, but (as per the guide) as they did not repay the charges within 14 days, filed the claim.

It looks like HSBC are so sonwed under with claims that they cant deliver an answer after the 8weeks they say it takes to process a complante.

i was informed after having to wate 9weeks that id have to wate 10-14 days for my answer now.

why couldent they have told me this when my 8th week ended.

it looks like they are just stalling

has any one else been told they have to wate any longer after their 8 weeks are up from that standard letter from colin langdale?
