After waiting 8 weeks, I was told that I had to wait another week or two, when I told them I wasnt happy they said "tough" basically, so I told them I was going to report them to the ombudsmen Two days later had an offer through the post. I had already spoken to the ombudsmen and they said they would act on my behalf as it shouldnt take longer than 8 weeks and its just tough on HSBC if they cant keep up with demand!.. hope this helps.....

    Hi All!

Just got a very nice letter from HSBC this morning - a cheque for £1k+, only 7 days after sending my acceptance to the offer!

Keep going everyone, it works in the end!!!!

  • Hello fellow re-claimers,

I've been reading the threads and I'm at the court stage, HSBC have acknowlege my claim for just over £2,300 (inc interest and £120 court fee) and I'm awaiting their defence. I've had an offer letter from them today for £1,063.... I will accept £2,000 but not their offer. I rung the HSBC Leeds office to see if they can increase the offer but they won't agree to anything over the phone. So, I will write to them turning down their rubbish offer and ask for £2,000.

Has anyone turned down an offer and made their own offer which has been accepted??????

To be honest, I'm hoping they'll turn me down so it go's to court and I get the whole lot!

If you don't mind disclosing the information, how much were you claiming in the first place ... with/without interest added?
We missed out on the reclaim of nearly £5000 bank charges from HSBC, but picked up over £10000 in PPI claims against them instead. I am now debt free and working to help my other half clear hers

If you want to go to all the way and get the whole amount back, why would you consider making them an offer? Surely, you reject their offer on the grounds that it's inappropriate (excuse wording) and let them make their move?

I accepted my offer as a part payment, and offer to settle for the restof my claim + £120 MCOL and 25% of my intrest....which they turned down and paid me nothing!

Off to court we now go on the 17th July!!!

I'm going to make an offer because it will speed the process up of me getting the money back... The 28 days will be up on 11th June, reading what has happened to others, they'll submit their defence on that very day (delay tatics), then I'll have to wait for a court date, which could be.... well I don't know, maybe a few months?? I'll settle for £2k if I get it quicker... Also, the other reason for making an offer is.. that if it does go to court, it will show the judge that I've been reasonable by trying to compromise a figure with them and avoid wasting the court's time...

    I think that's reasonable?!?!?

Hmmm, point taken and yes, seems reasonable.

I guess that matters are a little different for me, as I am in no rush for getting the money back, all these delay tactics just mean that they're adding interest on to the final amount.

Quite reasonable and if I remember correctly, look back through the thread, but I think HSBC are quite open to negotiating a "deal".
