I've sent about 3 or 4 emessages off and had 'sorry for the delay, but we did say 14 days' in reply.
Getting sick of waiting!

Did you give them 14days in your court threatening letter? If so, I'd at least give them that. I doubt they would of read the letter till the 10th and there has been a weekend since then. Using the advise on here I'd decide what your going to do 14days after the received your 2nd letter
Yeah i gave them 14 days. Im just wondering, as they seem to be stalling for time (my friend got his money back within 2 weeks after his 1st claim letter!) with me, i'm assuming i'll have to go through mcol. I don't know but i guess i was naive to think that just cuz my friend and i bank with the same branch, that we'd be treated the same
i have also just written a complaint letter to HSBC regarding their unfair treatment of me over my managed Loan - they jsut sent me a new agreement to sign, even tho i've not spoken to anyone in person - so i complained
goodness knows why they sent it to me but it seems rather odd.Debt at start (Aug 2003): £13,500 >>Debt Now (Aug 2013): £3,104
HSBC charges WON (april 07): £1,103.00
HSBC PPI WON!!! (July 08): £1,166.00
HFC PPI WON!!! (August 08) £2,100

While it does happen it is rare to be dealt with so quickly. Has your friend got a large sum of savings perhaps? That could be the reason. As for your claim am afraid you have 2 options. Ether go MCOL or wait the 8 weeks that HSBC will tell you to wait if you call them. Waiting 8 weeks is quicker then going MCOL but they will make an offer at the end of it and if you want more there will be more wrangling. Where as you are looking at a 3-6 month wait for your money with the MCOL route and is it goes to court you will prob be awarded all minus £2 per claim for the actual cost. SO its a case of what you prefer, normal waiting or active waiting as the paperwork from the MCOL route is alot. (Can you tell which way I prefer/went)

I have just come off the phone to customer services and the girl, although nice, gave me the bad news that they can no longer stick to the 8 week deadline that has been set by the FSA as they are inundated with claims, so although my 8 weeks is up tomorrow I now have to wait another couple of weeks, she has passed my name to a manager but said he probably wont get in touch for a couple of weeks. So Ive just sent an e-message saying I want full response within 48 hours or I will seek advice from financial ombudsman. I have also e-mailed the ombudsman to see where I stand.
Any one got any advice??0 -
Hi all
GOT MY MONEY BACK TODAY!!!!
Opened my bank statement to see a nice 529 pounds sterling sitting in it.
Had to take them as far as MCOL and getting the case sent up here to Stockport - but it worked in the end.
Thanks to all those who helped - you are great people!!Never spend your money before you have it.

I sent my claim (including interest) for £1540.00 to HSBC on the 11th April, and they sent a letter back on the 20th saying they will contact me "with a full response as soon as [they] have completed [their] investigations."
Am I a bit early to start chasing with the court threat letter today (15th May), or do you think, due to the volume I'm sure they are getting at the moment, hold on for a couple of weeks? Don't want to burn bridges if they are truly inundated!
Anyone else had this experience?
Thanks
Mark
PS Check out Google Checkout.:D Until 11th JUNE certain suppliers give you a £10 discount on total goods valued above £30. They even say that multiple seperate buys will be accepted within reason! Just saved 20% on a pushchair!0 -
I arrived home to find an offer from HSBC for £2,622.00 instead of £3295.50 with interest it's £4078.70. I have waited the 8 weeks which they requested as i did not have the money to do MCOL. But i feel that i should be entitled to at least the £3295.50 how do i try to get the remaining £673.50. Should i call them and to whom do i speak to and say what? or do i do this in writing.
P.S. the reason they give for the £673.00 not being offered is HSBC overdraft interest on your account is well published in respect of both formal and informal overdrafts, it's a condition you will pay the agreed rates on that borrowing. God knows what their on about as i have never had an overdraft with them, but only can assume their referring to total charges.0 -
HI
I have just read the judgement from the county court in birmingham where lloyds tsb won a case against a customer and they did not even have anybody there at court to defend the case for them.
I dont believe that this judge has the gall to let the bank just show that the couldn`t give a F&^K and not defend the case in court and still judges in there favour:mad:
I know that every case is different and goes on the merit and the judge on the day but reading this judgement has made me quite nervous about my claim and i bet all the banks now will start rubbing there hands and defending more cases
Do u think i should contact HSBC by phone in the morning and try and negotiate a settlement or should i stand by my guns and just go for it
any advice would be welcome

Did you use our template letter giving them 14 days to reply (a proper reply, not just an acknowledgement)? If so, then you are a bit late rather than a bit early. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0
