welsh-bess - file for court hun!0

Hello all,
This is my first post on the site but I have been reading it for sometime and going through the process.
My story
I sent a letter on the 12th March claiming just under £2900 from HSBC in bank charges, I decided to wait the 8 weeks after reading this forum rather than going through the court process and costing me money (i'm not knocking it it was just my personal choice).
Anyway today after 8 weeks and 1 day i called HSBC who confirmed they have sent a letter out to me offering £2536 in final settlement.
I know it's not the full ammount but i'm well happy with the figure and will be accpeting.
Just thought i'd post in the hope it encourages others to keep going with their claims.
I wondered if it was worth while sometimes but I kept on going and i'm really happy now!
Keep going everyone!0 -

I waited cos I couldn't afford court and court tends to drag it out to an even longer process and will cost you (although you get this back)
Its personal preference really, but HSBC WILL get back to you qwith an offer - just keep reminding them about you!
Thank you! I think I will wait until June 6 and see what happens.Got £820 back from HSBC! Now entering comps like mad with the hope of winning a nice long holiday....0 -
it'll be 8 weeks since i sent letter 1 on 16th May... should I wait until then before sending letter 2 (it's in an envelope ready to go) or just send it now?
thanks all0 -
Hi, they will probably file a defence at the last minute, which is very frustrating. It is easy to apply for judgement if they don't, so don't worry. You will be applying for judgement forthwith which means you'll be paid out quick. If they do file a defence, you will get a Notice of Transfer of Proceedings to Local Court - again you need do nothing until you hear from your local court. Fingers crossed no defence appears...
Hi Louloujs,
you are dead right they had til yesterday - as of last night no defence i checked this morning and they submitted last night day 28 of the 28 days they had, i am so fed up
i will stick with it to the bitter end but does anyone now know roughly how long it takes them?
the court said they will be sending out forms is there a guide on how to fill them in?
Thanks Lizz0 -
Quick update, sent our letter to the Leeds address requesting a refund of charges totalling £690 about 6 weeks ago. Since then haven't been able to afford to do the MCOP so have just left it, today got a letter from HSBC completely out of the blue offering £590 as full and final settlement. We're going to accept as can't be bothered with the hassle/expense of going to court. Easiest £590 we've ever earnt that's for sure and kudos to HSBC for processing the claim with absolutely no pressure from ourselves other than a couple of letters of course....0

Tried to post this earlier...
Has anyone experienced bringing a case at Croydon CC? Do you know how long it took or is likely to take?? Am debating whether to wait the 8 weeks as seems to be the case on the HSBC thread or else push on with the summons which will be issued soon.
Don't really want to wait until the autumn , but will if I have to....;)
Any ideas/advice welcome!

The 8 weeks are a cop out. They won't magically send you the money once 8 weeks are over. You have to push them, and if you don't stick to YOUR timescale and to what you have said in your letter (namely, taking them to court), they won't take you seriously.Reclaimed thanks to this site:

Is there any instance of HSBC closing accounts after reclaiming even if the second amount is relatively small? My first claim was for over 2000k and this one is 225 - they will keep charging, it drives me nuts!! It's so frustrating - most of the time I have a good relationship with them - I make them money all the time!! I want these new charges back but I do want to stay with them! Help!0
