am in the same boat as julie p,

i sent me statements off highlighted, never heqard a thing from the bank at all. i filed claim in the end through money cliam and hsbc had until 29th dec to contact me, on the 28th i got letter stating i need to send the details of charges etc.

but i have no stements and dont know what to do now.

i have tried phoning them but can never seem to speak to any1 that understands me or that i can understand ( no offence to anyone) anything about bank charges ... like i said i dont know what to do now, help please!!!!!
    relynutz says it all :o
  • Has any on had this problem? or can any body provide an answer as what to do next pls?
I sent the first letter template requesting charges over 6 yrs or statements etc.
Today I received the last twelve months statements only all the charges have been removed so I can't trace back my charges. Apart from the charges being removed the statements are an exact copy of the originals as I had some of the originals and compared them. I'm with Abbey if it helps.
It seems they've sussed what I'm trying to do and have purposely omitted the charging info. Has anyone else experienced this and can anybody advise.
I'd be very much obliged for any help
    Thanks Kev.

Does anyone know how long it takes to get the money back from the MONEY CLAIM site? if you are on benafits?

    thanks JIM
  • As you are the one reclaiming bank charges and ultimately could be going to court you do need to follow the steps and send the banks a list of what you are claiming. If you don't they are entitled to come back and ask you for this and you will have to prepare these details for your court defence anyway so its best to do this in the first place.

You are required to send a list of each charge claimed, what the charge is for and the date it is charged.

Anything and everything you send to the banks should be copied.

I'm truly amazed that any of the banks would even consider doing this. This is a serious breach of your rights under the Data Protection Act. You definately have original copies of your statements that include charges taken? If you do, I wouldn't even muck around with the bank. I would report them straight away to the Information Commisioner. In your complaint, send a copy of an original statement, and a copy of the statement they've sent this time round. Highlight the missing charges.

When I started reading the threads about reclaiming charges I thought of my brother who's been having a lot of money problems.

However as we were sorting through paperwork I found a couple of my statements as well. I was surprised to find that I had bank charges against me as well, I didn't think that I had any! In the 4/5 statemnts with charges on them I could claim over £300, and that's only from the limited number of statments that I have.

Needless to say that we are both sending letters to HSBC this week for a full break down and are starting the re-claim process.

Advise to everyone is to check what statments you have and send off that first letter, you may be surprised by the outcome.

I'll keep everybody up to day on what happens :)

You didn't know you'd been charged?!?

Rule 1, always check statements when they arrive.

Rule 2, so you can do rule 1, keep a track of what you spend.

    :)
