Since no one else has bothered to answer your question I'll have a go :-P
It seems that you first letter to your branch was forwarded to this London office to be dealt with. Clearly they have some sort of specialist area who deal with such matters, and with this in mind I would send the second letter to the correspondence address on the 'London' Letter.

My experience with HSBC has been interesting... They were very dutiful in sending back copies of my statements which strangely have no charges listed on them at all...
I opened up a Student Account and had a whopping overdraft for a while and am certain they charged me for it, but I'm just not sure about the dates - whether it was within the six year period.
Spoke to a very nice man on the phone yesterday whilst querying this and he said that by law, the bank *had* to list the charges they had applied to the account, so if there weren't any charges listed on there, it meant that none had been applied to my account despite my being over my overdraft limit etc...
I'm guessing I'm just going to have to let this one go, but has anyone else come across this? Or are they just being devious?0 -

Having previously received statements, sent my claim letter to my local HSBC branch requesting total charges back. This was received 15th December - 14days ago.
Called the bank earlier tody to ask what is happening with my claim and I have been told that it is taking about 6 - 8 weeks to reply.
I mentioned that I was under the impression that I should have been acknowledged within 14 days. The lady told me that this was their normal 'complaints procedure' but as this was a legal challenge against the bank that was being dealt with by a special department in Leeds, they are allowed the 6 - 8 weeks.
Any advice for next step would be appreciated.
I'm also still awaiting contact from First Direct for a claims letter they have yet to acknowledge that was received 19 days ago.One hundred years from now it won't matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in the bank, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little better because, I was important in the life of a child.0 -
if you told them in your last letter that you were given them 14 days that what you give them. You now need to move to the next stage and remember to keep to your time scale not theirs:j 221 hours & 32 mins clocked up on wii fit since 8th August0

You need to do what you'd said you'd do. Send your next letter.
They're allowed a reasonable time to respond. You will have given them a minimum of 21 days from your request. This is plenty for a bank with resources of this size.
As a reminder to others as well. Once you've started the procedure, there's virtually no point in phoning them up and asking when they're going to reply to your letter. It won't hurry things in the majority of cases and if it's also difficult to record accurately any conversation. Just follow the procedure.0 -
Hi, i started my claim at the beginning of November.
I sent my first letter via the post, my mistake, i was not a reader of this forum then, i sent my second letter, hand delivered on 22 November, giving them 2 weeks to respond.
I had no response, so sent a letter offering them the chance to pay 75% of the charges and stating my intent to take it to court if i did not hear from them with this offer by the 3rd January, this was sent recorded delivery, which they recieved on 21st December.
I got a letter today dated 29th December, thanking me for my letter dated 22 November, inclosinga leaflet about listening to my comments,.
The letter apologised for not fully completing their investigation and said they would contact me again by 23rd January when they 'expect' to be able to provide me with a full response.
Do i continue as planned and fill in a claim via the moneyclaim site on wednesday 3rd January/. and if so, do i reply to this letter stating i am doing so?
Thanks very much fror any advice0 -
