hi just a couple of questions.
.i sent the first letter off to the bank (along with the 10 cheque) asking for a run down on my charges for the last six years waited the full 40 days and then on the 40th day i got a letter saying.......
thanks for your request with regards to information about transactions and charges/fees on your account.
We note you did not request copy statements, however, this is the only format in which the bank holds the information you require. for this reason copy statements have been ordered on your account. these will begin to arrive in separate batches and will be with you shortly.
we are happy to waive any fees for the production of this information and in order to protect your securtiy, we have destroyed the cheque you sent on bank premises.......
can anyone tell me if this an attempt to slow me down from claiming back my bank charges by sending all my bank statements for the last 6 years bit by bit ? and what would be the best course of action to take ?so infact its over the 40 days and i still dont have anything i can do to get my money back.

Well, what a difference a week makes!
Had a call out of the blue - well not quite it just took them a week to respond to a call that was supposed to have been returned within 48 hrs, but lets not be pedantic eh?!:D I am claiming just under 2k from HSBC and i was made an offer over the phone of £1600 ish, which i wasnt too keen on. Was told that they would not pay interest, just refund all the charges and court costs to date. Recieved this offer the next day (Wedensday) in writing. After a bit of thought, i decided that they had plenty of time to settle, and put me to a lot of trouble, so i thought "see you in court".....
Imagine my surprise then, to recieve two days later an offer of settlement in full (from DG Solictors), inclusive of interest and court costs.
It didnt even get as far as me filing the AQ at my local court, although as a coincidence that was more by luck than anything else. I have been fortunate enough to be able to afford to wait and play it cool, wether that convinced them that i wasnt intimidated and was happy to take it all the way (i was) and so to pay up now i dont know. However, i certainly would never have done it if i had not found this forum.
Thanks to Martin, and all the others on here. :money:0 -

Hi, can someone elaborate and make it clear about the understanding of the 28 days date. I'm confused as to working this 28 days out, I know its 28days to put in a defence from the date of claim being served. however, i had the acknowledgement letter, and it says that the bank now have 28 days to put in their defence!...So i'm assuming its 28days from this date now for them to defend!..i think....
Clarification needed, thankyou.0
