only 16mins on the phone this time.

Yes Stargazer a pattern is emerging. After telling me offer generated 26th and posted 27th it appears that that was not the case.

In fact and offer generated 28th (sat) so the lady said it should of been posted yesterday or today 2nd class. I tried to press her to confirm for sure but she claimed she couldnt do this.

Difficult to know what to do really, especially bearing in mind louloujs advice a few posts up.

Guess will just have to try and be patient and stop thinking about it every 5 minutes.

Annoying its 2nd class post though

    Hi all

I've scrawled through the forum and other parts of the website to try and get my questions answered without having to mither you all, but I couldn't find anything that fits.

    Here's my problem anyway...

I've been wanting to reclaim my bank charges since I heard about this happening. The thing that keeps stopping me though is that in my current account I am permanently overedrawn to my full limit (£1500) and my salary never puts me back in the black. I've also got £1k on a credit card with HSBC. Finally and most importantly i have another general account with them that is used as my and my other half's house account. It's only in my name, but mortgage, council tax comes out of it. That account's always in the black though and sorted.

Seeing how much of a pain HSBC are my worry is that if I try to reclaim my charges they could put a block on my house account or do something else naughty (such as transfer the money i have in the house account, into my current account to net off against the overdraft) that would leave me missing mortgage payments and everything turning into a nightmare (which as we've been in and still are in the middle of a house move for last few months would be even more of a nightmare).

I should also point out that i'm not a good customer, as i've always been overdrawn and gone over overdraft limits and i'm sure once I claim they'll play dirty as in their eyes i was only good for the charges they regularly got off me.

Should I still proceed to claim?

Many thanks for any help / advice...

    Mike

    Yes, claim!

TYhey aren't a pain - they just make you wait til they get to your claim. They legally can't do anything in retalitation to your claim and they tend to pay out after their alloted 8 weeks, so send a letter or two, it can't do any harm!

And i was their worst customer, so don't worry!

No, you're wrong there. I was by far their worst customer.

And they are by far the worst bank. ever.

I think I was actually the worst ;-) , they shut my account down in the end so my claim is actually reasonably straight forward

And you are right , they are a dreadful bank

I really need help but I'm starting to feel really confused.

    Does anyone bank with HSBC?

I requested my charges info but they only sent me statements which I have already as I'm self-employed. On the statements, charges are shown but they didnt send the summary sheets where you get a breakdown of what the charges are. On the ones which I have got (not many) I have Overdraft fee or Arrangement fee mentioned and then the amount. Im not sure if these are something I can claim? These vary from £25 to £150 and are what come up as charges on my statement. Does anyone know if these are charges I can claim?

    Thanks :rotfl:

In answer to your question. It is debatable whether we bank with HSBC or are merely metaphorical punchbags for them to dish out vicious charges when they feel like it. Enough of that. The answers to what are chargeable:
You can claim for bounced items, excess overdraft fee charges, not service charges or interest.

I will find the link for what you can claim for. Here it is:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=400981

If you go to Post 4 it itemises what you can and can't claim for. You shouldn't need the summary sheets, you'll need to go through your statements and highlight each one in turn. Then go to the spreadsheet on the main Reclaim charges article and enter them in. Good luck.

if you are really concerned about this, open a parachute account with another bank that provides you with basic banking facilities (DD's SO's) and use this account as your house account then HSBC cannot touch it and you can claim with a little peace of mind....

It automatically gets transferred to your local court and they'll let you know about it.
    PLEASE PLEASE SOMEONE SOME ADVICE!
I received a letter from Northampton called 'Notice of transfer of Proceedings' to my local court (Hammersmith) but haven't received any other correspondence or an Allocation questionnaire or date yet (this was 11th April! nearly 3 weeks ago!) Don't know what to do or how long do I have to wait or what happens next, I am nervous because HSBC have said they are taking away my overdraft and my parachute account is not up and running yet. (CLAIM IS 1400 POUNDS)
