  • Hi all. I started the ball rolling with reclaiming my bank charges from HSBC,on february 23 2007. I followed martins advice, and used the template letters.
I am now at the stage of filling in an allocation questionnaire, as it nowlooks like it is going to court, and the HSBC have solicitors acting for them.
Has anyone out there had this happen to them? and have they been succsesfull?
    Enjoy the weekend sunshine. sting2

i claimed £3400 from hsbc who didnt reply to any letters, so i gave them an extra two weeks after the last letter, then payed £120 to mycol and applied for the full amount+interest+costs around £4200, two days later i got a response from "kate eaves" the banks solicitor notifying me of their intention to contest the whole amount, three days after that the bank offered £3400. i have searched long and hard for similar threads but cannot find any i would have honestly accepted the full amount before i went to mycol. but now i aint sure has anyone been through similar circumstances and turned down decided to go the whole way. all advice appreciated

The general advice I've seen in my time on the forum is that you must accept an offer of full payment excluding interest if it is made before filing at court. If the date of their letter offering the full amount minus interest is after you filed at court (sounds like it is ) then you are entitled to continue with the claim. Good luck :)

YAY! my parachute account with Cahoot has FINALLY been opened. I've heard nothing back from HSBC yet other than the "we're looking into it" letter. But at least, if they decide to close my account i have a backup AND, for some reason, Cahoot gave me a £500 overdraft, which - in this case isnt good so i'm going to ask them to take it off. but yeah, i feel more secure in claiming that money now, and i'll probably just close my HSBC account myself anyway, once i get my charges back.
    Debt at start (Aug 2003): £13,500 >>Debt Now (Aug 2013): £3,104
HSBC charges WON (april 07): £1,103.00
HSBC PPI WON!!! (July 08): £1,166.00
HFC PPI WON!!! (August 08) £2,100
  • About 6 weeks ago i sent letter number 1 which i downloaded from this site asking for details of charges on my HSBC current account, enclosing a cheque for £10. About 4 weeks later i recieved all statements and a letter returning my cheque saying because i had not asked for statments they would not charge me! I went through them with a fine tooth comb, being sure not to include any charges they had refunded (which were very few), to give me a total of £3023.00!!!
Sent 2nd letter telling them they were unlawful and i wanted them refunding on the 19th april 2007. Got a letter this morning thanking me for my letter and saying they were investigating the matter and a full response will follow.

    Will update ASAP. Fingers crossed.
