yes you will, although if you read my post a couple up i did my questionaire about 6 weeks ago and still waiting to get it sorted - some more phone calls i think are needed
  • Not a reply but a question - does anyone know which part of HSBC to write to in order to commence dealings - is it your account holding branch. Was inspired to try and get charges back having listened to Martin on radio yesterday - I realise it will be time consuming etc but got to be worth a shot! Any info gratefully received. Thanks

I sent letter with enclosed charge list on 3rd april. Received acknowledgement on 11th april saying the usual, looking into it. When do I send the LBA as they have not given a full response within the 14 day timescale. Claim is for around £2,500 with interest

If its the 2nd letter to request charges back where you include the detailled list of charges then its your account holding branch. If its the initial request for statements its the canada square addy

Hi guys. I am a newbie to all this so would appreciate some help.

I sent off a letter for my two HSBC accounts on 10th April claiming a total of about £2300 in charges over the last 6 years (one month, the lovely bank decided to charge me £450 in charges - taken out within a week!)

I received a written letter from them dated the 17th and 18th April for each account to say that they are "looking into the matters raised" and will contact me with a "full response as soon as possible".

I got confused while reading the forums on this site and sent my initial letter and copies of bank statements to the Data Protection Controller at MY BRANCH, not the Canada Square address as someone suggested inan earlier post. Does this mean that I need to send all the intial letter info again to the Canada Square address, or just proceed with my second letter to my branch?

I really need to get this sorted ASAP as I am pregnant and any money we get back from these charges is helping towards baby costs!

    Thanks in advance guys...

  • Hi

After examining this and other websites dealing with bank charges, I understand the time starts from the time the letter is RECEIVED. It doesn't matter where it was sent to, as long as you can prove receipt. (Recorded Delivery).

What the bank does with it after that, is their problem and not yours! :rotfl: Don't let them fob you off!!

    Just my opinion...

You are absolutely correct , that is what the Financial Ombudsman says, its is from the date they sign for it..not the date they bother to open it and log it into the computer! I just pointed this out to Sarah at the Service Quality Team on the phone. as their 8 weeks for me is up on the 30th! So to my timetable they have 5 days..to theirs they have 8!!!
  • HI

    Hi again

I have just called Royal Mail to find out what DATE the bank signed for my letters/bank statements (even though I know they have received them as I have received acknowledgement letters from the bank) but it turns out that while I paid for recorded delivery, they never bothered to get a signature form the bank! they are now going to reimburse me with, wait for it, STAMPS! Cheeky!

Anyway - can anyone advise me as to when I should send my follow up letter asking for the banks response? Do I have to wait 2 weeks, 4 weeks (or from reading some posts 8 weeks?!?!) HELP!

    Thanks
