  • Thanks for your help Debbie. I'll resend my letter to the Business Park address and I've also made a formal compaint to HSBC about them 'refusing' customers correspondance. They could have at least written back saying I needed to send it to a different address. I am SO moving straight to my parachute account once I've claimed my money back!

Hi Tara did you send the letters to your local HSBC or did you send them to the HSBC at the Arlington Business Centre in Leeds. When I spoke to the service quality team they told me to send any letters to the Service Quality Team, HSBC Bank PLC, Arlington Centre, Millshaw, Parklane, LEEDS LS11 0PP. Their telephone number is 08456028006 but be prepared to wait at least 20 to 30 minutes, or you can email them at servicequality@hsbc.com.

Hope this is some help to you.

Also, I'm wondering whether I should start court action, as £1700 (the latest offer) is the exact amount of my claim, minus any interest. If icontinue with MCOL all I am claiming is the interest on the £1700. Is tthis ok, or will they be able to defend saying they have offered me my money back minus interest and I've refused ??

If they have offered the full amount and you have not filed a court claim, you should accept this offer. You are not entitled to interest unless it goes to court.

    Yeah, he's on the 08456 028006 number

I've spoken to three people there now, he was the most helpful ( i think it helps to get them in the morning before they're too sick of us!)

I dont think they can tell us much other than a bit of a timescale but they help and explain as much as they can.

eyeball, when you say they are dealing with claims day by day, by "claims" does this mean just the letter threatening court action if we dont get money back , or MCOL claims?

Also I sent my letter asking for my money back or Iwill take to court three weeeks ago - I specified two weeks and have yet to hear ANYTHING. But I never sent it registered delivery - do I need to resend it or just proceed to MCOL?
  • I am referring to the FIRST letter you sent, reclaiming an amount - that is what they are basing their timescale on. I got a reply from my first letter (standard reply from Colin) on the 7th March. This had a reference number on. They have logged my claim (that being my request for a refund)from the 9th March - so 2 days after i got the letter saying that they were looking into it.

I sent my LBA a couple of weeks ago, I also gave them 14 days to reply but because I haven't got the money to take them to court right now, I gave them a call on the number i posted a coupleof posts ago. If you ring them then they should have a record of your claim, when it was logged into their system and from there you should be able to work out when you willl hear something, as they HAVE to have made a decision (either an offer or a full rejection i think) within 8 weeks.

So, short answer, i'm referring to the first letter you send - this is what i mean by 'claim' - not MCOl cos i haven't done that yet.

If i were you, i'd give them a call, give them your sort code and Accoutn number and see if they have your claim logged into their system. It may have been a mistake not sending it recorded delivery though...

    Hope that helps!

so I should accept this, and not start court procedings for the rest ?

    eyeball Thanks for your help

Ive done as you said and rang them , and the lady said my claim has been registered as of the 14th March. She said to await an offer letter within 8 weeks as of the 14th March. Now to me this sounds quite promising cos it sounds like there gonig to make an offer - or is this just stalling tactics? Do they have 8weeks legally or is it just rubbish? Anyone any suggestions what I should do - wait or press on with MCOL!!?

    thanks
  • You can do either.. I dont think it will harm your MCOL if you wait, but if you want to ensure interest then you'll have to do it through the courts.

I, however, am just looking for more money so I can claim with my other bank - so i am happy to take a reasonable offer if it appears.

I guess its down to your patience, but past posts seem to indicate that they sometimes make half-decent offers.
