  • I'm with you, Palacegirl64, it's not always irresponsible, or mismanagement quite often it can be unforeseen circumstances that force us overdrawn or even excessively od, with many commitments dds sto's etc only takes an unexpected bill or unemployment and before you know it things spiral out of control and the banks are not very helpfull. I'm in the happy position of having no od at mo but in past have had dreadful times. This site is for support and advice not to belittle people, and may i wish you loads of luck in getting debt free.

Thank you for your kind words of encouragement and support. Like I say, reading the majority of the posts on here, has given me the impetus to keep going. The point of all this I would have thought, is to force the banks to rethink their charges and stop the legalised extortion!

Hi palacegirl. So glad to see you weren't put off by tootsie roll's post - don't take it personally - it appears s/he has no positive input to make on anyone's requests for help judging by his/her other posts.

As for your initial question I am no expert but I would get your parachute account opened ASAP to stop any further charges and then start chasing the new charges you have been hammered with separately. Good luck.

Should I submit a second claim requesting payment of charges added on since the letter was sent or simply add it to the original claim? Any help or advice welcome.

    Many thanks in advance

You can add charges when/if it gets to filing at court.

    Hi everybody!

Just a quick one as I have no doubt that this will have been answered elsewhere, but I got a letter today titled "Notice that Acknowledgment of Service has been filed" further to submitting MCOL claim.

This Acknowledgment letter advises me that HSBC intend to defend all of my claim for approx. £1195!!

Should I be worried? As it was acknowledged on 16/04/07, do they now have until 14/05/07 to put in a defence? What shoudl I do if they do?

Any advice, maybe from other HSBC users, would be appreciated, as I am a little worried now...!

It's fairly normal for them to defend the whole claim. They'll probably enter their defence at the last minute to string things out. Depending on your court, you may receive an Allocation Questionnaire. If and when this happens, ensure you complete it carefully and promptly using the guide in the Reclaim Help thread.

I sent my letter to my branch on 13/04/07 - how long does it normally take for them to write back with any type of acknowledgement. I know it was signed for as i tracked it.

I claimed £2.206 from HSBC back in February, and received an offer of £1,452 in March. (This was after threatening court action).

I sent a few emails to them saying I was not satisfied with the amount, and all I got in return to my emails (I must have sent 4 or 5), was a standard reply with - your matter is being dealt with.

I was about to log a claim with MCOL yesterday for the full amount, when I thought I'd give them a ring 1st. The lady I spoke to said "Haven't you received the offer of £1700?". I hadn't and this was apparantley sent out on the 28 March. She said she'd resend it. I said I wasn't happy with that amount and would start court action, to which she said I couldn't until i receive this offer and have to actualy write back to them refusing it.

Is this true, do I have to wait for the current offer to come through my door before I can start court action?

Also, I'm wondering whether I should start court action, as £1700 (the latest offer) is the exact amount of my claim, minus any interest. If icontinue with MCOL all I am claiming is the interest on the £1700. Is tthis ok, or will they be able to defend saying they have offered me my money back minus interest and I've refused ??

    Advice greatfully received.

For anyone else waiting the 8 weeks out....

I just called HSBC and the nice bloke (ian) told me that they are up to working on claims that were logged on the 1st of March - it seems that they are working through in a day-by-day way. So tomorrow they'll be dealing with claims from the 2nsd march, the day after it'll be claims from the 3rd... etc etc.

Mine was logged on the 9th - so I should know something by the end of next week hopefullly.

I will keep anyone interested posted.
