Yes its normal and just as normal for them not to defend. Sometimes a bank will state intention to defend as a stalling tactic. In the first 98 pages of the Success Thread I counted 115 cases with HSBC only 4 of which got to the court stage. Of those 4:
2 were settled in full by, the bank did not defend and default judgement was awarded after 14 days
1 settled in full after court claim filed
1 settled for less after court claim filed and it was accepted by the claimant
Good luck0 -
Is the fact of them taking people to court based on branch specifics. Only, 2 of my friends are with the same branch as me and they got their money back within a month. No hassle, they just sent 1 letter and then got their money.Debt at start (Aug 2003): £13,500 >>Debt Now (Aug 2013): £3,104
HSBC charges WON (april 07): £1,103.00
HSBC PPI WON!!! (July 08): £1,166.00
HFC PPI WON!!! (August 08) £2,100

has this happened to anyone, quite worried now.
i'm owed around £2400, they part offered of £1500 which i turned down but now they have sent the claim to defence!
what happens, does the bank have any chance of overturning this, i don't get how they could if most cases are winning, surely it cannot be one rule for one claim one rule for another!0 -

sorry to be thick can anyone help?
i posted my claim to HSBC on 4th April for £2500
i have received a letter today dated 12th April saying
"were looking into the matters you have raised and will contact you shortly with a full response as soon as i have completed my investigations"
is this a ploy by HSBC to buy more time????
my questions are:
1) do i still send my letter threatening court action on 18th April or do i wait for a reply?
2) and if i do send the letter on 18th do i send it to my branch manager or the guy who has sent the letter?
any help greatfully received
thanks

Oh and another newbie question sorry!...... I am claiming a total for two accounts, my sole account and my joint account (with the wife). Do I put in two letters or add them all together in one, also do you think I should put both ours names on the letter?
Hi there just bumping this as I wanna get my letter sent........ thanks in advance :-)0 -

yes, add the £160 to the total and recalculate your interest, if you paid £10 to get your statements then add that on too!
