I think you will find that HSBC will file a defence at the last minute. That is what they seem to be doing most of the time. I hope you are an exception.

No more allocation questionnaires, from the county court. That is what they told me yesterday.

I phoned HSBC to get my old credit card number (its been cut up and was paid up about a year ago). After going through all the security checks on the phone with the lady she told me she couldn't tell me over the phone for security reasons
Anyway, she said I'll pass you on to another department who will write to you... other department was in India. The new lady went through no security checks.
Me:can i have my old credit card number please?
Her: what do you want it for
    Me: my records
Her: do you want to use it?
    Me: no
Her:do you want to use it for a purchase?
Me: no I want it for my records
    Her: Why?
    Me: FOR MY RECORDS!
Her: ok, your number was ##########

I emailed the service quality address with my disappointment at not having my enquiry dealt with etc etc, and that if HSBC were willing to repay me the amount they owed me, minus interest (£1953) within 7 days, I would not pursue the matter (without prejudice of course - cheers Martin!). I got a response telling me I had emailed an unsecure site, so they couldn't give me a response, however my query had been forwarded to the appropriate dept. I was then told that if I emailed via my internet banking 'my messages' section, they could answer me. And they have!!! They have offered me £1583 - and I am going to accept - I know I should maybe pursue this, but it's £1500 I never had last week!
    Gimme back my bank charges!!!!!
  • Hello Peeps,

I have done everything by the book.

I sent my first letter to HSBC on 12th January. The usual senario followed blah blah blah. I returned my Allocaton Questionaire to the court by hand with the fee on 23rd March.

Has anyone got any idea how long it takes to get to the next stage. I am assuming the next stage will be the court date.

    S'pose I am getting a bit impatient :o

  • Hi folks, what a great website - just filled out the templates and am sending my letter asap. Worked out my fees on the HSBC website, very handy having 6 years of statement access online! You even get further info on each fee so you can check what they are.

I've worked out they owe me £768... definitely worth a few hours of statement checking if I'm successful! *fingers crossed!*
  • Hello everyone,

I've looked through as many threads as possible, but cannot seem to find the one which applies to my position. Here it is:

I sent a letter to HSBC claiming about £2,500 of charges from the last 6 years. I have not claimed any interest. I received a "holding" letter on the 12th day, but having read Martins advice, realised that this was just a delaying tactic. As I had asked for a full refund within the 14 days, I did the MCOL thing, and submitted my claim, again I didn't ask for interest. They acknowledged the claim, thus giving them 28 days to respond further. This would have been up this Tuesday (10th April). However, yesterday, my husband and I received a letter from their solicitors (DG Solicitors in Birmingham), saying that their client has passed our claim to them, and in order to consider it, they require a fully itemised breakdown of the amount claimed within our claim form. I already sent this with my original letter to the bank!!! They say that at this juncture, they are unable to address our claim without the information sought.

Has anyone else experienced this with any of their HSBC claims?? I would love to know, because I cannot see this scenario covered anywhere here. I alsmost wish I had never filed the claim... its quite stressful.

I haven't claimed any interest and to be honest with you, I would be quite happy to receive an offer of about 75% of the amount claimed - as Martin says, it might not be the full amount, but its money that we thought had gone forever.

I would love to hear from anyone about this, please!!

    Cheers all x

This is another delaying tactic. Comply with their request and send the charges breakdown (again!).

This is just about end-game stage now. It does vary, but it seems that once you get to allocation questionnaire stage, the banks know that you are serious and start thinking of paying out. This is certainly happened with my claim with LLoyds. Having said that they often dont play the game exactly the same every time. - just to keep everyone guessing and worrying.

Whatever tactics are played, there is only one outcome - people get paid. Your patience will pay off in the end.

Look forward to reading your success posting

Thanks for that - I guessed it was, and figured it was best to comply and to show willing, and all that - my husband disagreed and wanted me to call them on Tuesday and contest their request. However, I think the more I do, the less they can argue about it!

I just wish it was as easy as Martin said it was on GMTV the other morning!!!
