    Hi,

does anyone know if emailing HSBC's service quality actually gets you anywhere? do they actually reply? or am I wasting my time?

I would always make sure you get a read receipt for your emails. I firmly believe that HSBC set their own timescales, they say they will respond in 8 weeks and they are doing just that. I believe that by ringing the Quality Service Team or emailing them you will not be moving the process any further forward any more quickly but it might give you peace of mind that something is happening - although Natalieee has been known to get a slightly quicker result by crying on the phone at them! (see earlier posts)

On the positive side, they WILL respond within the 8 weeks they specify. Just keep going with the letters in your own timescales in the meantime. If, like me, you cannot just wait for them to respond, issue your claim online. Main difference is that you'll get your interest added to the claim, but will have to fork out for court costs.

    Good luck

I sent my first letter on the 26th January. They acknowledged on the 3rd February.

I sent the 2nd letter on the 8th February. I called the service quality team on the 21st february, and they told me they were looking into it. I called again, a couple of days later. They claimed they had sent an offer, but the letter had been printed but not posted

I waited a number of days, and nothing in the post. Another delaying tactic.

Filed with MCOL on the 5th March. HSBC acknowledged on the 6th.

I have just checked on MCOL, and HSBC have put in a defence today.

Could somebody tell me what the next step is? My claim is just over £1500.

I assume I have to pay £100 to go to court.

At what point do I need to pay this?

Will the allocation questionnaire be the next step?

    Thanks

HSBC now have 28 days from the date they were served to file a defence. If they don't, you will win by default. Most likely result is that they will and you'll get an AQ to fill in and return to your local court. Claims over £1500 will be subject to a £100 fee for this, anything lower and it's free.

Hi,Im after some of your thoughts please.I have sent my first two letters to Leeds and a couple of e-mails via the on line banking service (which were actually pretty helpful-always had a reply within a few hours).Yesterday I got an e message saying that an offer had been posted the day before.I would have expected it to be delivered today in that case, but nothing.
My concern is that the only letter I have had (from Colin!) was dated nearly two weeks before it was delivered. Can I expect this with my offer too?Should I push on or just wait?Any advice appreciated, thanks!

HSBC letters are notoriously slow - read Natalieee's posts on this site, she's been waiting several days. However, you could ring and ask what the letter says as she did...

    Hi

I have filed with MCOL and they have acknowleged which means they have until 23rd April to file a defence.

Today I received a letter from HSBC:

Thank You for your letter dated 19th March requesting a refund of all your bank charges passed during th 5 years. 5 years? ahem.... 6 actually

In order that we can consider your request, please provide a full itemsied breakdown of these charges to include date, description of the charge and the amount applied. Please also include any proposed new charges that you have received a pre-notificatiopn advice for. (You know I have none Mr Bank Manager - you have access to myaccount info)

Your breakdown should be in the form of a list quoting date, amount and description of the charge from your statements. (You don't say, oh yes you do, in the previous paragraph. And this will be the list I already sent you twice then)
If you use Personal Internet Banking, you can obtain this information from your previouse staements on the internet. (I know, but you still sent me 6 years worth of statements, in 72 envelopes)

    blah blah blah...

Honestly, why are they bothering with the run around? They know that I know that they know they will settle 2 days before the court hearing.
Such a waste of time, energy and resources.
    One more letter to file.

    rant over!

Know how you feel I chased numerous time only to get 6 years woth of statements that didn;t need as looked up on line
any sent of LBA yesterday and sent emessage telling them
    so lets see what happens

    Hello All
I sent my first letter on thursday 15 March 07. It was received by HSBC on Monday 19 March 07.
I got their holding letter on the 14th day of the deadline I set out in my original letter. The holding letter simply says that they will investigate and get back to me.
I called HSBC to find out how long this would take.
I was told the maximum period of time they would take to investigate my claim would be eight weeks from the date they received my letter.
Has it taken that long for everyone so far?
    Has it been less time?
What have the usual time scales been so far?
    Details please.

V - According to several posts on this threads about AQs, HSBC are tending to settle a few days before the court date which could take up to 28 days or so from the court receiving your AQ.

You have such a worthwhile reason for pursuing this, July is a few months away so you've got every reason to feel positive about planning to put your settlement towards a really amazing trip. All the best.

I have looked at the defence HSBC have sent but there is no AQ included?
What do i do now?? Help!

You've probably been sent a copy of the defence from HSBC. You should receive the AQ from the court - i would contact MCOL's advice line for an idea of when you can expect to receive it.

I sent letter 1 to HSBC asking for the list of charges and sending £10.

Today I got a letter back from them saying they were sorry I found it necessary to complain and blahblah about how they do their charges and its up to ME to check my balance etc etc. They went on to say that their charges were correctly calcuated and I should have monitored my account.

They refunded my £10 and paid back ONE £25 charge!!! They finished the letter saying "I trust matters can now be concluded"

I wasn't even complaining yet, it was letter 1 - asking for my list of charges for the last 6 years!!!!

What do I do now - do I wait the standard 40 days or send another letter 1 or what?

    help!

Yeah I do - but because I work nights and have a awful time doing anything that involves concentrating during the day I was trying to make my life easier with getting a full list of charges from them :(

I have just written another letter, accepting the payment as a goodwill gesture and also reminding them that it was not a complaint at this stage, but requesting the charges which I am entitled to by law. I will see how that goes and if not I will force myself to work it all out myself :(
