  • Thanks for your post - I can never get a response from the number so have been chasing it up via the complaints number. Sent my first letter on the 13th Feb has an acknowledgement on the 19th Feb sent my second letter on the 27th Feb had a response on the 15th March saying that they should get back to me by the 12th April. I think i may wait and see if I get a response to that my claim is typed and ready to go though

i would definately try that number if youve waited that long, my first letter was sent on 22 feb and scanned in on 27 feb, they told me i had to wait until 3rd april at earliest,i didnt want to wait so i just rang 08456 028006 every couple days after i sent 2nd letter on 9th.its a lot of waiting, the fastest they answered was 17 mins, and the longest wait i had was 1 hr 6mins. i told them that if they could tell me i had to wait for them to decide how much/if they wanted to pay could i do the same with their charges. i also offered to settle for less with my 2nd letter threatening court, seemed that did the trick. :T good luck with your claim.

claimed £2258 offered £2100 over phone, should be paid in by start next week :T

I am currently claiming for my husbands charges as he had years of being overdrawn with no overdraft (Men).

We are both with HSBC and I wasn't worried about them closing his account as we are yet to make them a joint account, but I just wanted to check that they wouldn’t stop me from changing my account into a joint account should the time come that they try and close it. There is also a parachute account at Halifax but would prefer not to move my account as that’s the one with all the money, direct debits etc. and I can remember off the top of my head how to got onto internet banking.

P.s. Wrote my 1st letter last Monday but A. lost the slip for recorded mail (Women too) and B. sent it to the local branch, does anyone no if there is a difference between sending to the local branch and sending to the head branch (wrong words I no).

thanks for that. i included interest in my original claim and hsbc said they 'dont pay back overdraft interest' - duhh i dont think they realised i was claiming interest on ALL my charges not overdraft interest that i was charged by them!

so just to clarify - the £80 that i paid for MCOL wasnt in my original claim amount so how can i add this now? thanks again

ohhh ok i get what you mean - so if they write me another offer letter it should include the £80 right? does that actually happen though or will i have to ask for it?! :)
  • Hi

I requested my statements from HSBC, then realised I have them online. So, I calcuated everything and am waiting till tomorrow for the reply (14days).
Anyway, today I had 6 envelopes arrive with 6 months bank statements.
They are sending them a month at a time - so I am going to get 72 envelopes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is sooo wasteful of them. Firstly, they could have written and said "your accounts are available on line" or just sent 1 year in 1 envelope.

Really annoyed with them, I thought companies were supposed to be trying to be slightly greener.

Its also costing them a fortune in postage, which i don't mind!!:rotfl:
    LBM 22nd February 2007 - Amount in debt £72,242.23:confused: one month on  £63,900;) 2nd month 60,000.09

  • I have filed the claim with the small claims track, the bank (HSBC) has defended the claim and I have to fill in a questionaire, is this just an attempt to wear me down or have the banks now taken to routinely defending the claims?

Two weeks ago tomorrow my wife sent off the letter to her branch asking for a refund of the charges, she hasn't heard anything since. Should the next letter threatening court action be sent to her branch or to the Leeds address? According to the royal mail tracking the letter was delivered on the wednesday (7th March), I was going to suggest she leaves it till then and if she's had no reply by that date to send the next letter, just not sure where to send it if we haven't heard anything at all.

    Thanks

Send the second letter to the leeds address and send it after the 14 days from the first letter have passed.
