    Hi,

Im a new user of this site but have become unbelieviably addicted (would love a job moderating if ur listening Martin, lol) I had my lightbulb moment watching Martin on LK today last year sometime but only now getting round to doing something about it!

I used internet banking to add up my charges and after sending the first letter requesting a refund of charges i have heard nothing from HSBC. On Monday i sent the second letter threatening to take them to court but added Martins template about a lower settlement. I am finding myself waiting with baited breath for the post every morning and have still received nothing:confused:

Having read through the site i am prepared for a long wait especially as HSBC like to drag their feet. Well done to all those who have already won, it must be a super feeling! Im sooo jealous!

Will keep you up to date with my claims:

HSBC Acc 1: £740ish (incl int)
HSBC Acc 2: £780ish (incl int)
Sent 2nd letter threatening Court - Monday 19th Feb
  • I sent a letter to my bank (Abbey National) claiming for £2,900 of unfair bank charges. However, I received a letter offering me £1,168 to include charges not yet debited from my account. I take it this means charges since my initial claim.
I have had £850 refunded into my account.
I want to claim for the full amount but can't find a template letter concerning partial repayments not being acceptable. If anyone knows of this letter, or any other ways I can go forward with this claim, please reply to the thread.
    Many Thanks
  • thanks :) time to send a letter then as HSBC waited 14 days on the dot to send the letter saying that they would look into it

First of all ,forgive me if the information I am after is glaringly obvious elsewhere on this site I am a bit confused.

I wrote to HSBC with an amount I wanted refunding. They have responded with the following

"thank you for your letter concerning bank charges.
I am looking into the matters you have raised and will contact you with a full response as soon as I have comlpeted my investigations"

I am not sure what my next step should be , and how long I should wait before taking that next step, i.e. do I have to give them a certain amount of time?

Any help would be most appreciated.

    Thank you.

If they haven't replied again by the time your 14 days are up with a satisfactory answer for you, you then send out the letter before action giving them 14 days before you take them to court.

This is a standard holding letter from HSBC.
  • Hi all,

I am currently helping my parents reclaim charges from HFC bank there are pages and pages of figures, some abbreviations which we are confused about are listed below...

Please can someone translate them and let me know if these are reclaimable?

admin fees ranging from £15 to £45

reg pmt/eff dte £363.41 this abbreviation appears twice quoting this figure

    irregular pmt - ranging from £363.41 to £1090.23 - 6 times in a 2 period.

credit reversal - £363 appearing numerous times.

there are in excess of 200 pages to sift through so i am sure there will be more....any help would be gratefully received

If no-one recognises the abbreviations you need to phone the bank and ask them. Also check the statements that there is nothing on there saying what they mean.

  • Thanks...

HFC are refusing to discuss the matter with either of my parents saying the account is now closed and they do not have to explain themselves! There is no key as to what they mean on any of the sheets.
