11 Feb.....Started claim to HSBC for £2727.81 including interest.

21 Feb.....Received reply from HSBC explaining that they would get back to me when investigations had been completed, but gave no date of getting back to me.

8 Mar.......I sent template letter about not receiving a satisfactory response giving them 14 days to reply.

16 Mar ....... Received letter saying that investigations still arn't complete and they will get back to me with a full response by 14th April.

So my question is, is this a stalling tactic and I assume they can keep biding time in this way? Also any idea what date in April the OFT will be out please? I have had a look for a due date but couldn't find one.

Would really appreciate any comments. Thank you.

I've been successful with Nat West £580 and Barclaycard £100

To all of the above posts awaiting a reply from the bank. If you haven't had a satisfactory reply to your claim within your timescale then send out your next letter after your 14 days are up.

There is no date for the OFT ruling, this makes no difference to your claim anyway, and I'd say its just that the banks are very busy so they are sending out holding letters.
  • Hi All

    First post so be gentle!

Just wanted to give you an update on where I was in regards reclaiming ovr £700 of bank charges (including interest)!

Sent my letter 13 days ago recorded delivery. HSBC received it the next day, so 12 days have no passed.

I merged letter's one and two, basically saying pay up in 14 days or I'll take you to court.

I received a reply from HSBC today, saying they are "looking into the matters" I raised and will contact me with a full response once they have compelted their investigations.

Now, I fully intend this coming Friday to start court proceedings against them to reclaim the charges. However, I do have one concern. Are they stalling for time to reach teh new financial year, and then not have to refund the full amount, or, because I've made my claim before such date, will they have to anyway?

Can someone please tell me where i send my 1st letter requesting all my charges back - i bank with HSBC. Can i just hand it into my local branch or do I need to send it elsewhere.. Also, do I need to address it for the attention of anyone in particular??? And will I have to send my 2nd letter to the same address??

    Thank you.
  • Johnny I sent mine to my account holding branch. Letter I got back was form a head office department entitled "Service Quality Team", which means, as far as I'm concerned, they don't seem to be taking me seriously! It's not a complaint, it's a threat of legal action!!!! Stoopid people!
  • Can I claim the £10 card abuse charge I got on top of the £30 overdraft charge? Thanks
  • OMG! the bank has finally sent a response to me arrived on my mat this morning!
1st letter sent 14th feb giving 7 days to respond

2nd letter sent 28th feb giving 14 days to respond or i would start claim.

the letter is a respons to 1st letter saying they are investigating (no time scale or anything!)

Do i call them as they have given me a contact number and see how long they will take?
    or
as its well passed my letter deadlines do i proceed to court? kinda dont really want it to go to court though!

    any advice greatly appreciated x

I sent my letter on the 13th Feb got a response to that one, then sent the second letter and got a response on the 15th March saying that they would respond to me by the 12th April.

Spoke to a very nice lady after a long wait on the phone for an answer - she explained that they are making offers but that the time scale they are sticking to is that of the OF but that we would definately get a response by the date set. I didn't particularly want to go to court either as I can't really afford the £120 fee at the moment - so I am going to wait and see what and if they offer.

    Good luck your end.
