I bank with HSBC and I've been charged an "arrangement fee" of £100 this month for exceeding my overdraft (by £101). I have complained about it over the telephone - they tell me their terms and conditions changed in December 2006. Am I being fobbed off? I can't make any sense from the terms and conditions. Can anyone tell me whether I can still try and claim this back? I have just a normal current account.
Thanks0 -

Hi Everyone
Thought these details might help
Tel: 08456 028 006
Fax: 0133 2766 202
Address: HSBC Bank Plc
Arlington Business Centre
Millshaw Park Lane
LEEDS
LS11 0PP
Telephoned on the above number today and wasnt waiting for that long before they answered. I have sent 2 letters to HSBC, 1st to local branch and 2nd to Canada Square, neither (I have been told) have reached the Charges Team Direct but was today given both a postal address and a fax number to forward my letters and breakdown of charges to.
I was told that all correspondance should be sent to them so have listed the details given to me today above and hope it helps....good luck everyone0 -
Hi everyone, I'm really hoping that someone can help me here. My boyfriend and i are reclaiming, or we are trying to anyway! Im claiming from HSBC and he is claiming from Lloyds. We both sent letters with enclosed cheques two weeks ago. These letters we downloaded from this site requesting the relevant charges statement etc.. However, we were discussing it this week and realised we still hadn't heard from either bank. He is under impression both banks are now fobbing us off. I sent HSBC an online message from my account online asking if they had received the letter, and why hadn't I had a reply.. this is what they said..
Dear Miss Russ
Thank you for your e-message dated 20 March 2007.
After reviewing our records, I confirm that we have not received the mentioned letter.
Please be advised that we are unable to provide you with a statement detailing charges as the bank does not hold the information you require in that format.
However, please note that you can view all transactions and charges on the last statement plus any made since, with the most recent first, up to 90 via Personal Internet Banking.
You can do so by following the instructions below:
1. From 'My Accounts', select the account for which you wish to view your statement.
2. Next, click on the 'My Statements' icon located on the left-hand navigation panel.
3. Select the statement you wish to view.
The screen will display the first 100 transactions and charges. You can scroll the list to view more transactions and charges from the selected statement. You can sort the transactions from My Accounts in the following way:
o Date (ascending/descending)
o Type (alphabetical)
o Description (alphabetical)
o Amount paid in/out (descending)
You can click on the twistie next to the required column heading. The running balance will not show on any sort option other than date.
Should you require copy statements, please confirm via this e-messaging system and I will action it accordingly.
I trust this clarifies matters.
Yours sincerely
Heidi Daniels

But I was under the impression that they would be able to send me this "statement".. Do I really have to troll through all 3-4 years worth of chages??? Someone please say NO
My other half said that he is sure by law that we are entitled to see this statement.
Hope someone is kind enough to help us xx0 -
I'd just resend the original letter. I posted one to HSBC with a second class stamp and they rang me 5 days later.0

Don't want to be funny, but you ARE seeing the HSBC statements. Just online. Which actually saves you £10 because you can do it yourself. You will have to look through them carefully anyway, whether you download them or the bank sends them to you.Reclaimed thanks to this site:

I am claiming £940 + interest (£1140) from HSBC. I submitted MCOL which was acknowledged on 15th March however I have received a letter today offering goodwill gesture with no admission of liability of £842.40. As I have already started MCOL and paid £120, my total claim is approx £1260. Should I ignore their letter and wait for 28 days to expire or write back declining it and if so, does anyone have an example letter they've used in this situation?0

I cannot accept your offer of £xxx as full and final settlement of my claim. I will accept this as part payment and without prejudice, but will continue my claim for the balance. I have made a reasonable effort to settle this claim before issuing a court claim, but you ignored my efforts to settle this. Seeing as I have now had to issue a court claim because of your failure to deal with my claim in a timely way, I will now settle only for the full amount of charges+statutory interest+court fee.Reclaimed thanks to this site:
