I have received a letter from DG Solicitors requesting a fully itemised breakdown of the amount claimed. They ask for an itemised list of the date of the charge, description of the charge and value of the charge together with a note of the interest, if any. I have drafted a response:
"Please find attached an itemised breakdown of the amount claimed from HSBC Bank plc by me as per your request dated 13 March. This includes interest as at 12 February 2007.
You requested description of charge, but the only information available on my statements was, “Total Charges”. This is the only source I have to glean this information. May I suggest that you contact HSBC to give you further data regarding this?"
Will this suffice? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.0 -
Hi, not sure whether one of you regular MSE experts can help me with an HSBC claim query...
I didnt hear back from HSBC after my 7 day demand letter so I filed a case with MCOL last Tuesday for £936 including interest. Yesterday I received a long letter from HSBC with an offer of £561 at the end. However, I am not actually sure that this letter is in relation to my court claim - i think it takes 5 days to process the court claim before HSBC even receive the papers so this would surely be too quick? I presume there is an overlap here... so should I just ignore this letter and let the court case go ahead?
On a second query, in the letter from HSBC yesterday they say that I included in my claim an 'overdraft charge of £20' which I agreed to over the phone when I organised a temporary limit increase. They said that they have deducted this from my claim amount... So I wanted to know whether I need to change the amount with MCOL that I filed for last week - just becuase I think there is a £30 charge for any amendments?!
Even so, surely £20 does not reflect the cost of ME ringing THEM and some call centre person clicking a button for a temporary OD limit?!! To be honest I'm not that fussed about this particular £20, more worried about having to amend the court claim and incurring a charge.
Any guidance very much appreciated as usual! Thanks0 -
Yep i just logged in to MCOL and my claim was only 'acknowleged' on the 14th March but the HSBC offer letter if dated 12th March.
What next? I'm going to reject their offer but not sure whether I should inform HSBC in writing of this as it has come after I filed the claim? Bit of a mess.... :S0 -
Hello all,
I have worked out from the statements on the internet that HSBC have charged me 778.50 over the past 6 years. I have a 2k overdraft with hsbc and am worried that if i pursue a claim for the amount that they will take the overdraft facility away which will leave me in the ****........ I am not the best person with money and my credit file isn't too good :embarasse and being able to open another bank account would be difficult.....
I haven't started anything as yet, but the money would be useful to pay the upfront fee for my mortgage to go to a fixed rate.....
does anyone have any advice as to whether i should start the process or wait for the OFT ruling to see whether there are clearer guidelines about closing accounts / overdrafts etc etc???
Thanks!0 -

Angie - could i ask you a quick question? Or any one else thats online at the mo that might be able to help? Im currently completing the online court forms and was wondering which HSBC address people have given / i should give to the courts? Canada Square or Exeter High street?
(And im no expert but the above sounds fine to me, if you dont have the info you dont have it, however i would wait for someone who has been here a bit longer to confirm that!)

Hi All,
Ive been reading as many posts as possible but cannot find what i'm looking for - hope someone can help.
I was offered a settlement from HSBC for £1250 (only £200 short of my full claim) which Im very pleased about! I accepted and signed the form to say I would not take any further action regarding these charges and sent it back recorded delivery the same day. HSBC's letter advised they would pay me the money within 7 days...it's now been 11 days and i'm getting nervous! Where do I stand, as I have now signed this form saying no court action - but they said they would pay up and they havent? I am going to try and write another letter but dont know where to start.....0 -
Hello All
I've just sent my claim for charges lodged against my account to HSBC at their Leeds address.
My claim is for 5 years of charges totalling £4279.77.
Are there any success stories for people with charges as high as mine?
So far, the stories I've read are significantly less than my charges.
Help, advice and links all gratefully received.

Can anyone please help me out. Sent letters 1&2 and got fobbed off. Filed at mcol on 7th March and no surprises HSBC are defending. They have until 5th April then the 28 days are up. My claim in total is £2075 including interest and court fees. If the OFT report has come out by then where do i stand? Should i still be able to go for the full amount?0
