x yes i know it's a killer, but the court costs automatically get added to your claim. Remember that if you receive an offer after you've issued your claim, you ought to mention that you would like your court fee back too please!
It will all work out just fine i'm sure. Good luck!Lou0 -
Hi, new to this.... I am at the 2nd stage in claiming my charges back, and been looking through loads (& loads) of posts. Noticed on some that people have gone through the FO - is that the best way to go? I bank with HSBC and havnt got a clue how they are going to be.
Thanx0 -
Hi
This is my first post and im am petrified at reclaiming my charges!
I am with HSBC and have lots of charges from previously using my overdraft. Interest charges for using it. Can I claim these back at all?? They range from 10p - £8 which all add up!! Plus 1 or 2 £30's for going over the over draft 5 years ago.
You can't claim back this interest.
Also is there a thread for getting charges back on your credit card? I have a HSBC credit card. Can I claim back the charge for the interest - or all of the interst im charged monthly on this?
Hope someone can help!
Regards
Rebekah
Nor can you claim back the interest for borrowing on your credit card. You can claim back late payment fees and/or over limit fees.
Please read Martin's article and the Reclaim Help Thread, both linked in my signature.0 -
I'm just a bit confused as I don't see how I can get the charges back when I agreed to the terms of my account (although I was 16 at the time!) and a lot of it seemed to be through my mis-management, although they did makes things worse and also as my account is now closed.
Can anyone help????
Thanks
L
To explain basically:
You signed a contract and they laid out the terms of the contract to include charges for if/when you breached the contract. It isnt that they charged you, its how much they charged you that is the issue. The charges they apply are unlawful because they are in excess of what they are actually allowed to charge. They are only allowed to charge a fee in line with what it actually costs them if/when you breach the contract. It is on this basis that your claim works and the key to its success and your eventual refund.
You can reclaim on a closed account. Write your initial letter requesting 6 years details under the Data Protection Act and enclose £10 for this service. Advise of the name on the account, the type of account it was,the account number if you have it. If you dont have the account number advise also of your date of birth and address (include change of addresses too if applicable) so they can trace your account. The reclaiming process is relatively straightforward, see Martins guide here :

Well done Jenny - really great news! What stage did you get to before they offered, I think i was just behind you?Lou0 -
Jenny, just looked back, so you didn't even have to issue a claim to get your offer? I'm definitely turning on the waterworks if it gets to a phone call. The calls are usually so frustrating with HSBC it shouldn't be hard. Well done you.Lou0

can anyone advise me please?
I have written to HSBC requesting £2,206.17 (inc interest). I got a letter back saying they would look into it, so then sent the LBA. A few days ago I heard from them again appologising for the delay, saying they would respond by 3 April.
I am concerned that by this time a decission will have been made by the OFT, so should I be patient and wait a few more weeks, or is now the time to start court proceedings through moneyclaim ?0 -
I am in the process of completing my allocation questionnaire in my claim against HSBC. However, I now realise I may have been a little "over-zealous" in my initial claim form, and would appreciate some advice!
In addition to bank charges of £2,190 (plus £374 interest at 8%), I have also included a claim for £615 in DEBIT interest (plus £127 interest on this at 8%). I now realise that this debit interest (plus interest) is not reclaimable.
Could this invalidate my entire claim? Can I/Should I modify my claim now, and if so, how?
Many thanks in advance.
