Will stay on hold seeing as though its a freephone number, im curious to see how long they will take to answer now

  • Hi I am a first time user and just wanted to let you know of my progress. I have sent first letter asking for charges and interest back from HSBC . Have received a letter today advising that I will be contacted with a full response as soon as they have completed there investigations. I have sent an immediate response with my second letter advising that if I do not get my money back in seven days I will take court action . I stopped using the account because of its high charges i.e. I had been charged £72 on one occasion and switched to Halifax and set up two accounts one bills and one spending money account and to this day have not in the last 3 years gone over an overdraft . At the time I had been into Stourbridge HSBC branch and asked for help only to be met with the answer that take out a lone @ 14% as it was then and they would look at refunding charges . As I thought that would be the last that I would see of the money I as I'm sure many others did i had done nothing until now . I now intend to take to court and not accept a lower amount many thanks for reading .

Jenny - you're doing well if you're getting an offer letter! I've had nothing except the 'keep you waiting' letter from DG. I issued two claims on MCOL on Friday in the end.

Let us know what the offer's like!

ONly got this far after several false promises from the team dealing with this, such as, oh it's down on the syatem to be looked at on fridaay, that was a lie as it was 3 weeks ago. I got really shirty and demanded that a manager call me back and having been told that there was no way that my case could be prioritised, he told me it would be looked at today and for once they've kept their promise. Not counting my chickens yet though, I'm claiming £2500 incl interest but the offer could be for £10!! I'll keep you updated!!!

If in doubt, get shirty and then start crying on the phone, worked for me:T

OK - Will give them 26 days before ringing and crying. The offer you get will probably determine how much the tears mean to them... If it's not enough, I will hone up my wailing skills.

Right, going to test out my new signature.

    Here goes

I will be at the file in court stage at the end of the week.
I am now over my overdraft due to charges and this morning thought I would look at my account to see if any money had been put in and have the same message as you.
It looks as though they are trying to force dialogue by not letting us access the account.

I'd advise both of you to check the balance at the branch. Sorry if that sounds obvious I just thought it should be said just in case. If you file at court without checking and they have made a payment into the account without advising you they can use this in their defence and you wont be prepared for it.
  • Hey,

I'm new here and worried it all sounds too good to be true even though my friend seems to be having success with the banks etc left right and centre.

I was with HSBC from 1997 until late 2004 when I shut my account. I had a nightmare with finances (due to too much shopping combined with bills and a mortgage plus bank charges constantly making it all worse) and charges continually made things worse and took me over my over-draft which then resulted in yet more charges.

I'm just a bit confused as I don't see how I can get the charges back when I agreed to the terms of my account (although I was 16 at the time!) and a lot of it seemed to be through my mis-management, although they did makes things worse and also as my account is now closed.

    Can anyone help????

    Thanks

    L
