As the title suggests, I've managed to make a mess of following the nice easy steps to claim my money back from HSBC =/

I started the claim back at the end of January for £2400 + £400 interest. I sent the two letters and waited the appropriate time and got no response at all, although I realised later I forgot to send them recorded delivery.
With no reply I then filled in the MCOL form and sent if off, and it was served last Tuesday. Since then the bank have acknowledged and stated their intent to defend the claim.

But thinking it odd that I had recieved no correspondance from the bank whatsoever, I decided to check that they had the right address for me, as I moved house just before christmas, and it seems I hadn't updated it!!

I'm trying to get my post from the old house, but it's not something I've suceeded at very often since moving (infact only once). But what's the best thing to do?
Should I let the claim carry on and see if they make me an offer (or if they already have?), should I call them and see what they have to say? I'm pretty sure it's a bad idea to let it go to court now, but I can't afford to put in another claim if I withdraw it, and if I do then the extended time frame will put it after the OFT opinion is released, which would be less money back.

    Help please?

Hi there, I wouldnt worry, I had absolutely no response from them until a couple of days ago. I had sent my first letter normal mail, forgot about recorded! No response. Sent my second one recorded, left it two weeks as I was being nice before I thought about issuing the claim...and still nothing! Unfortunetly the third week I was broke so didnt enter the claim (have just done it now!) but have received 2 letters from them, both on the same day - one saying that they are refering to their earlier letter in feb and are still investigating (have not received any letter in feb!) and the 2nd one quite snotty saying go away basically, both dated the same day! I dont think they know what they are doing!

Please could someone advise. If the new ruleing comes in at the begining of April regarding the rate of £12 being a fair charge, will cases already filled with the courts go ahead without this £12 charge being applied or will i have to take £12 off all of my 53 charges im trying to claim back?

For example im claiming back 1975.50 without interest or 2323.48 with interest if i have to apply the new rule of £12 being a fiar charge im going to loose £636 from my claim.
    12 x 53 = £636
    £1975.50 - £636 = 1339.50

Help .... please could some one also tell me how there court experience went im getting worried.

    Thanks

    Hello!

This weekend I have just started to receive my statements from the HSBC. As an added bonus they sent the cash back I had sent to cover the fees.

    I have requested statements for:-
My graduate account (dont think they ever charge me but worth a look)
My mastercard that I had with them, now closed
Our joint account (arrived yesterday in multiple envelopes!)
    OH personal account
OH mastercard, with is also closed

Hopefully get round to calculating it all this week and then send off the letter

Congratulations to all that have done this and won! :j
Someone I work with did it and got nearly £5000 back so its encouraging all round.
2010 is the year of bargain shopping! Time to money save, exercise and plan! I like to keep busy :)

I got a letter 2 days before my 14 day deadline, cant say that for everyone though, they certainly dragged there heels all the way through!
    Good Luck
  • Like others with a court case pending I am keen to discuss tactics and hear of others' experiences...but as other posters have found out it is difficult to actually find anyone who has been to court.

Any news of court cases much appreciated.

    Cheers

    Hi

This is my first post and im am petrified at reclaiming my charges!
I am with HSBC and have lots of charges from previously using my overdraft. Interest charges for using it. Can I claim these back at all?? They range from 10p - £8 which all add up!! Plus 1 or 2 £30's for going over the over draft 5 years ago.

Also is there a thread for getting charges back on your credit card? I have a HSBC credit card. Can I claim back the charge for the interest - or all of the interst im charged monthly on this?

    Hope someone can help!

    Regards

    Rebekah
