    Hi.

I sent my first letter to HSBC and recieved the "we are looking in to it" on my 14 day deadline. I posted my next letter out to them the same day and the deadline was up on the 8th March.

Now I can't afford to put in a court claim. Is there any way to get the cost reduced as I am on benefits? Wouldn't have been able to afford it if HSBC hadn't stuck on another £130 charges on the 4th of this month!

Any advice on what I should do?
    HSBC - £657 claimed

    1st letter sent: 14th feb
Response: 28th feb - looking in to it
    2nd letter sent: 28th feb
    Response: none!
    Court Proceidings started: 20th March
    Claim served: 22nd March
HSBC intend to defend: 22nd March
    Offer letter received: 28th March!

I have found a website saying I won't have to pay... Now I'm not sure how I go on about sorting that out. Just been looking at money claim online and you have to pay by card on there and I can't afford £80 after being charged £130 only a few days ago!

Do I contact my county court?

    Hello,

I sent off a letter to my HSBC branch a couple of weeks ago asking for charges back.

I received a letter yesterday from someone at the service quality team saying that he was looking into it and would contact me with a response as soon as he had completed his investigations.

My 1st question is - is this just a stalling tactic? Should i go ahead with the next stage of the process or wait for another response? My feeling is that i should go ahead with th threat to take them to court now anyway.

My 2nd question is should i now send all further letters to this person at the service quality team or continue writing to my branch

    any advice would be appreciated

    cheers

If you didn't use the template letter and ask for your charges/statements under the DPA then they can charge per statement and not just the £10.....

And no you cannot claim it back unless they have made an error and you did ask for them under the DPA....

 Nope see i was told just to go in and ask but thats not a problem, the amount of money i am claiming for will "cover" that as such

Thank You for replying so quickly!!

I thought the maximum a bank could charge for a request like this was £10, regardless of how many accounts, etc. you have with them so would charging over £40 not be them taking the p a bit?
