Sent Letter to HSBC bank requesting they repay my bank charges of 31240 on th 20th Feb. Got a standard letter back from them on the 3rd March, so I phone them up 6th March for a update and was told they will look at my claim on the 16th March which falls outside on the 14 day period. Should I wait until the 16th March and ring them or should I send them my second letter as the inital 14 days in nearly up

The 14 days were up on 6 March. Send them the second letter with a 7 day deadline before you take them to court NOW. Banks like to stall, especially HSBC will want to wait what the OFT says, I was told. But stick to your timescale.

Btw, I hope you made a typo in your amount - are you really claiming £31,240???

Leeds address is fine - it has been acknowledged and signed off for a defence by Kate Eaves of DG Solicitors. So the message has been recieved loud and clear.

Wont argue the point about offices, seems that whichever door you go through, you still end up in the same room.

Yes, figured these things all end up on the same (breaking under the strain) desk...

I'm seven days behind you on this process with HSBC. Be interesting to see how things go for you so keep updating please! I'm claiming £4500 incl. int and costs. HBOS paid up the day before the 28 days was up - money was in my account before i even got their 'paying up' letter.

    Good luck... Lou

I spoke to HSBC today to see how my claim's getting on. Last Fri I sent an e-mail asking about it through the internet banking and received a reply on Mon saying that they're sorry I'm still waiting and that they would put my case a s a priority as I'd already been falsely told that my claim would be seen to the previous week.

The chap I spoke to today said that this again was a mistake and shouldn't have been said as there are no priority cases. I asked to speak to a manager about it and they said he was busy but would call me back, as you can imagine by my fury he failed to call back at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just you wait till tomorrow mister manager, you've had it:mad:

    :confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

Just Followed this up with another phone call and got so worked up ended up in tears!! How annoyed must I be to start bawling, very embarrassing. However, the girl I spoke to today said that she will again pass on the message for my complaints regarding false promises from HSBC to be looked at by managers. She was really nice bless her, probably thinks I'm a real unstable loon!!

Apparently the next, were still looking into it letter was posted yesterday, wish I wasn't totally skint then I'd file MCOL immediately!!!

Sniif, sniff, pull myself together   :o:o

I've had my statements through and added all the charges together, do i send the second letter to the address of my account holding branch now?

What do you do if you sent them a letter but you've totalled the charges wrong, and they actually owe you more than you said? Do you send an amended letter or do you stick with the original amount?

    Hi all,

I started the ball rolling at the beginning of January claiming ~£2400 + £400 interest, and have had no response what so ever from HSBC.
So last Thursday I filled in the MCOL form (well Wednesday but I had to recall that after a typo had me asking for £54 interest a day rather than 54p!), and had it served on Tueday. Last night I got a letter from the court saying that the bank have acknowledged the claim and are planning on defending it in full (although they've not entered a defence yet), but I'm starting to get a little bit worried.
After reading all the posts I have also realised that I didn't think to send my first 2 letters by recorded delivery (oops!!).
With the bit on addresses above, maybe worth mentioning, I used the address of my account holding branch (as they're put there to be my first point of contact), and it certainly doesn't seem to have delayed their response, or rather their soliciters response =(

    Ben
