Send it to your local branch at this stage.

Just address it to my local branch, or to a certain person/department in my local branch?

Also, the woman on the phone from HSBC customer services told me to mail my request to the Leeds address, is this just a stalling tactic or was she genuinely mistaken?

just your local branch will do,send it registered, then they have 14 days to reply whether they want to send it on or not ?? You could send a copy to both ?

    Excellent, thanks again guys.

Just so you know, I tried with the online banking system but it says the earliest data that it can display is 09 Jan 2007.

no no, thats as far as you can get on the current LIVE statement, log on again, click on your account and check the menu on the left hand side of the page for STATEMENTS or DUPLICATE STATEMENTS, there you'll find every month going back six years or more.

I'll need to find a few bob to cover each £10 charge to each seperate bank which might take a little while yet. :(

On this note, and after further rambling around the site, so far I see I will need £10 per data request and between £35 and £120 per MCOL application.

I'd really appreciate it if anyone could advise how much I will need to find in advance if I end up at court to cover each stage ? I appreciate costs are refunded but I am a little nervous at the amount I may need initially to go through with this.:undecided

Does anyone know if it affects your credit score? Has anyone here applied for a mortgage after reclaiming charges?

The other charge at court if it goes to trial may be £100 if your claim is more £1,500.

Edinburghlass: thanks for your reply, very much appreciated :)

I think I'll do one claim and see if that will fund the rest, so here's hoping and fingers crossed. I'll start with Capital One since they dont charge for the initial 6 years details. I've read on the site that you can simply telephone this particular company but its always best to get everything in writing. Having a stroke a few years ago taught me to make sure ALL communication is writing when dealing with ANY kind of authority as they will conveniently 'forget' telephone calls.

Good luck to all here in their claims and dont be put off by stalling tactics, remember - their charges arent legal and thats all that counts in the end :)

OOOHHH I'm so annoyed!!! I rang HSBC on Monday to see how my claim was going as I was due to file with MCOL on the Tues. The woman I spoke to said they'd be looking into my case today and to leave it till mid-nextr week when I should get a letter. I rang today (the chap I spoke to today was really helpful by the way) and he said that she shouldn't have said what she did and there is NO note to say they'd be looking at it today and it may yet be 3 weeks!! I would immediately file with MCOL but am skint at the mo and can't afford the fee!!! SOOOOOOOOO Angry. The chap today did apologise and say that he'd chase up the woman I swpoke to to tell her she was in the wrong! He also told me that I should be getting my HSBC CC statements next week so watch out HSBC, you're in for as double whammy!!

Just a warning in case any of you get told the same thing, don't believe it and if they insist then say you want it in writing!!

MBNA - 1 account settled in full, £993:beer:

You've advised not to include interest when asking for your charges to be refunded, is there a particular reason, when do you apply the interest?

Reading Martins advise he recommends adding interest to use as a negotiating tactic and to push them to pay quicker to avoid the interest later.

    Please advise
I was talking about the interest charged for going overdrawn due to spending not the interest you can claim as per Martin's article and yes I would advise as Martin does to add this interest to your first claim letter.

    ps I'm a lass not a glass :)
