  • Hi Everyone,

    Timetable so far:

    Download statements from online banking

12.01 Sent letter and spreadsheet asking for refund of charges.

24.01 Received standard 'i am looking into it' from Collin Langdale

27.01 Sent letter and spreadsheet 'promising' court action

    18.02 Filed claim with MCOL

22.02 Received 'offer' from HSBC dated 09.02 giving me 10 days to accept their proposal. [They wanted an answer 3 days before I received the letter!]. Do the Banks and the Solicitors acutally know what each other are doing? :rotfl:

23.02 Received 'Notice that Acknowledgment of Service has been filed' dated 21.02. Attached is the response form that DG Solicitiors are going to defend all of the claim.

Question: What do I do or what hppens now? Do I just sit and wait or am I supposed to respond in some way?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi All

This is my first message on here so far i have got to the allocation questionair stage I was offered from the bank £900 apposed to the claim of £1400 i am going for.

My question is this before i send back my allocation questionaire have anybody phoned D & G to see if they will settle before you have to add anouther £100 to the total of the claim?

is so what was the outcome I am a bit concirned over the fact that in april as Marin has told us on here there will be a chance some cases will start to be fully defended as a rulling will be made on the charges banks can make and the amount.

any help with this would be very welcomed.

p.s I have to have the questionair back in by the 6th of march with payment.
  • Thanks Edinburghlass.

Sitting on my hands and waiting

    Ooooooooh I hate waiting.

Hi there, this is my first post. I sent my second letter to my local HSBC branch, requesting the last six years of charges to be refunded (£890!), along with a schedule. This was on the 31st January and I have had no reply, in hindsight I should have sent it recorded (I didn't). Are HSBC delaying or should I give them the benefit of the doubt and send the letter again, with updated interest charges?

Since I'm in a fairly dire financial situation (HSBC consistently charge me £75-100 every month at the moment) they propbably know that I'm not in a position to front the money for a small claims charge, and may be delaying on this point?

The last time I called the bank to cancel an old direct debit they were extremely polite to me! Or maybe I'm just paranoid...

Could anyone advise me on what action to take at this stage, as I'm currently on the treadmill of perpetual bank charges and getting generally screwed!!

Thanks btw to this ace website, happy birthday!

Follow the steps in Martin's article, link in my signature, and send the next letter. You only update the interest when/if it reaches the court stage as that is when you will be entitled to receive the interest.

  • Hi All

This is my first time on here and I'd just like to say how useful it has been. I got charged £122 by HSBC for being over my overdraft limit on my graduate plus account between 6th January and 7th February. I recieved NO letter, and NO phone call so I'm a little puzzled at what administration charge they could possibly have accrued.

Anyway, I'm going to my branch today armed with everything I've picked up on this site and hope to see my money back.

    Thanks,

    Gareth

    Hi all

I need to say a big thank you to Martin and all others for the advice on this forum as I have had a letter from HSBC offering me £349 against a claim of £409. I am delighted with this as I didn't even send off the second letter, due to being snowed under with other things.

I am still waiting for a list of charges from Yorkshire Bank and look forward to sending off that claim.

    Thanks again

    Paul
