They said i should have sent letters to:
Service Quality Team
HSBC Bank plc
Arlington Business Centre
Millshaw Park Lane
Leeds LS11 OPP
They said they had nothing scanned in from me yet (sent first letter on 12th Feb). Think i'll have to send first letter again to Leeds. Bit of a bummer, cos those 14 days have just finished.
Or should I just send the second letter to Leeds? I did send the first by Recorded Delivery. Yes, I think I'll just send the 7 day LBA to Leeds today.
I recall with my HBOS claim I wrote to two different address until it went to Court -and they paid...
Thanks for your help with the phone number. Isn't it ironic that they seem to have a dedicated line to help with these queries?
Its Okies
If You Sent Your 1st Letter By Recorded Then Check On Royal Mail For Proof Of Delivery Then Just Send The LBA To The Leeds Address
Then You Only have To Wait 7 Days Not The Whole 14 & 7 Again..
I Know It Is Ironic Isnt It .. And They Are VERY Helpful Too Which Makes It All The More Strange ..!! x0 -
Hi there all, first post here - of many I hope.
Just wondering if anyone could offer any advice. I currently have 2 accounts I am persuing for unlawful charges - Natwest and HSBC. Natwest should be the greater of the two, I am just waiting for my list of charges from them. I used online banking to calculate my HSBC charges, which works out at £792, and then £122.73 interest.
I am moving house at the start of April, and could really do with some extra cash asap; anyone have any advice for getting a quick settlement, even if it is a partial settlement?
I was thinking something along the lines of contacting HSBC by phone, explaining the fact that I have been unlawfully charged and offer to take £500 rather than the £914.73 I would recieve once I take them to court.
I know I should really go for the whole hog, but £500 to my now is much more important than £915 will be in 3 months time.
Any ideas?
Many thanks0 -

You could phone them and try. I'm not sure they will make that sort of offer over the phone. If they tell refuse, you need to go through the process in the article.0 -
lady123 wrote:Hi could someone help, i'm just about to send second letter reclaiming charges, do i claim for interest incurred after they charge me, say £32 for failed dd or cleared transaction, i looked through my statements and after every penalty charge, theres been interest debited from my account, is this due to the unlawfull charge, and do i claim it on top of the penalty charge for that date, then apply 8% interest?
thx
You can claim this if you know what you are doing, please read the post about Interest in the Reclaim Help Thread, link in my signature.0 -
I will give it a go tomorrow, any ideas who I should talk to? I want to make sure I'm talking to the right person and not some customer support guy who will palm me off just to get me off his back :rolleyes:0

I apologise if this has been discussed before but I'm new to this game. Can anyone tell me how long you should wait between sending the various letters.
I sent a letter to my bank HSBC(dated 20/01/07) requesting a refund of my bank charges. Luckily I have internet banking and so I was able to check back my last 6 years statements online. I received a letter (dated 02/02/07) from their Service Quality team saying that they were looking into it and they would get back to me when they had completed their investigations.
Their enclosed leaflet mentioned 8 weeks from when I first raised the matter. Are they playing for time? Should I dispatch a follow up letter now or wait?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This is a standard letter from HSBC follow your timescale and send the next letter.0

Hi All - 1st post on this site. Sent my letter requesting refund of charges on 14 Feb. Due to send LBA tomorrow. Received the standard letter from Colin Langdale today saying they were looking into it. I will send the LBA anyway - should I post it to Colins office in Leeds?? Also should I give them 7 or 14 days before doing the court letter. The template letter on here says 7 days but the Consumer Action Group say 14 days. Would be glad to hear what other have done. Thanks0

I am currently in the process of reclaiming my bankcharges on a HSBC account, which at the moment I am only using to pay back my managed loan to them. I have recently opened a current account with First Direct, and am wondering wether my proceedings with HSBC will affect my standing with them. I know HSBC occasionally close customer accounts; however they cannot do this as I do not use the account - just to pay my loan with them. But I do know that HSBC and First Direct are essentially one and the same, so am scared about my First Direct account dying an early death.
Many thanks0
