  • hi
could someone advise me please. i sent my letter and cheques in to abbey at the end of jan and i have received all of my statements for my joint account and am ready to send in the list of charges etc so where do send this letter to.

secondly i requested details for my single account at the same time and i have not received any of the statements yet just the initial covering letter saying they acknowledge my request, i tried ringing them today but they said they cant look into it, so should i send another letter reminding them that i have actually requested the statements and they havent arrived yet? and if so does this letter go to the data protection manager that i sent the 1st letter too.

sorry if thiscomes across as gobble-de-gook. i am confusing myself too.

omg ive totalled up the charges for the past 4 years as that how long we have had the account and been in trouble i was expecting maybe £800-£1000 maximum, without interest its £2258 :j never thought id look through bank statements and be pleased when i found a charge lol! i dont know how they can justify them all, in june last year my husband was bringing home around £900 after tax etc, we were charged £315 for one month, and they wonder y we have so many problems!

They Did That To Me Aswell, I Pleaded With Them To Give Me An Overdraft Countless Times & The Answer Was Always `No Your Credit Rating Is Too Low` BUT IT WAS LOW BECAUSE I WAS BEING HAMMERD BY CHARGES!! I ALWAYS Got Charged At Least £50 Per Month, Some Months It Was £125!!

I Couldnt Understand At The Time & I Lost Count Of How Many Times I Left The Bank In Tears...Now I Realise They Were Making Money Out Of My Situation & Out Of 1000's More People!!

Its Really Disgusting How Theyve Been Allowed To Get Away With It For So Long x

 £471??!!! Im Really Shocked Thats Disgusting!! You Know What I Really Hope You Get All The Way Through & Get Interest Added On Top Of What They Owe You!!

I Think The DD Thing Will Be They Will Have Re-Tried Taking Your DD Out A Few Times, They Tried To Take My House Phone Bill Out 4 Times One Month When I Was Overdrawn, I Mean For Godsake They Must Have Realised...

Another Thing Which They Used To Do Was Ring Me From India Constantly, Asking Me When Money Was Going Into My Account & Basically Telling Me What To Do With My Money  IT Used To Drive Me Crazy, Half The Time They Didnt Know What They Were On About Anyway

Im With Natwest Now, And I Know Alot Of People Think They're Crap But In 7 MOnths Ive had ONE Charge, And Theyve Given Me A Managable Overdraft Which I Can Extend Anytime I Want Without Fuss.

Maybe You Should Think About Changing Banks Jem When You Finally Get Your Money? xx

Thanks paul1e, my claim is 100% overdraft charges
you go around in circles reading every post on here that you get all confused. doesn't help that my head spinning from flu and 2 kids down with it too!!!
So if and when hsbc does come back to me with an offer they may have knocked off the interest I tried to claim? Anything is better than nothing.

2 weeks up tomorrow but have had the usual "we are looking at your claim" so do we wait another week or wot??:confused::confused:

Sorry if you already had a reply, but again as i understand it the bank is under no obligation to pay you interest unless it goes to court then you can push for the 8pc used on the calculator plus court fee's up until then you are using the interest as a bargaining chip, so any offer before court will not usually include it but if it does then happy days, according to Martins write up he feels that if they offer you the full amount of charges b4 going to court stage and you refuse the courts, 'would take a dim view,' i think were he's words....

PS i think the the usual advice is stick to your timetable not their's....
once the two weeks is up move to the next stage...

Should I just send the letter threatening court, or should I call them first?
