I know this is a decision that I have got to make myself, but I am asking for a little imput from all you luverly people
On 18th Feb. I filed my claim through MCOL for £1882.50 plus £520.85 interest, I received a copy from MCOL saying it would deemed to have been served on 24th Feb.
Today I have a letter from HSBC dated 9th Feb offering £1575.00 and giving me 10 days from the letter date to accept. According to them I should have answered 3 days ago!. Now that is £300.00 less than the charges refund I asked for, without interest.
Decisions, decisions. Do I accept, or do I just 'go for it?'
How have others coped with this, have you 'settled out of court' or held out for the full amount?
Many thanks in advance

You can't send in court fees until you actually pay them and take them to court so they don't go in the LBA. By all means include the interest but should the bank make an offer it won't include these.0 -
I sent my first letter to HSBC over 3 weeks ago with no response whatsoever, (after a speedy settlement with First Direct)
I think I may have used the wrong address. Any advice? Should I send it to branch or does anyone have a good central address.
Thanks!!!0 -

Well after reading these posts for the last 2/3 days thought I'd have a go myself esp after the amount of £30's I've paid in last 2 years.
I'm estimating I've paid close to £2,000 (ex interest) so I've posted a letter yesterday (22/02/07) with a £10 cheque and sent it first class recorded.
I want to keep a log here so others can share similar experiences. I'm apprehensive, nervous, excited to see if I get the cash, worried all of those things. Knowing my luck the bank will have changed their strategy by the time it comes to my claim but fingers X'd.
Would love to hear from others who are currently in a similar position to me.0 -

I agree, it may be a large chunk but would HSBC have agreed if you had said I am offering you £15 when they charged you for dd returns? I doubt it very much they would have taken the full whack!!! I'll get you debts and your little dog too!!! :mad:And best of luck to all the other debt busters out there!!:beer:0 -
omg ive totalled up the charges for the past 4 years as that how long we have had the account and been in trouble i was expecting maybe £800-£1000 maximum, without interest its £2258 :j never thought id look through bank statements and be pleased when i found a charge lol! i dont know how they can justify them all, in june last year my husband was bringing home around £900 after tax etc, we were charged £315 for one month, and they wonder y we have so many problems!0
