Hi, I claimed back £1700 in charges from HSBC and they settled on second letter it was really easy. I also had a closed account from HSBC and am trying to claim £2000 back but they are being more awkward I now have a claim going through the court for £3000 including interest and court fees, I am a bit scared but why should they get away with over-charging people. Starting on Mint next!! Good luck to everyone else who is claiming.
Remember ....its not a bargain unless you need it :D
  • Thanks dixie06 - I've sent off my first letter and I am now awaiting a response, my new account with RBS is up and running so just waiting on them to see what happens next.

  • I got into debt with HSBC some four years ago now, and was 'advised' to take out a 'managed' loan to consolidate my debt with them (CC and OD).

The interest is extortionate, and after four years of paying £80 a month, my £5,000 loan now has a balance of about £4,750. I'm now trying to get them to freeze the interest to allow me to pay the debt off, rather than it go on for ever!

Were it not for charges each month I probably been able to keep up with my payments and would never have had to take out the loan in the first place.

I want to try and claim back the charges, but wonder wether they will force me to use the proceeds to pay back some of the loan? My current account with them is dormant, though I don't believe it is closed.

Can they use the funds from charges (If they pay up!) to offset the loan, or am I entitled to do as I wish with the money?

    Advice appreciated,

    Many thanks,

    hello.

i sent a letter to HSBC asking for my charges to be repayed in full with interest.the problem is i sent it to my local branch, ive heard nothing from them.will i have to resend it to canada?

i want to send the second letter saying ill take them to court, should i send it to my local branch or direct to canada?

if it goes to court i will be using the online service moneyclaim.on the sample letter where it says [INSERT COURT HERE] will i simply put moneyclaim.com?

  • Make the cheque payable to the bank you're requesting the info from, in your case - HSBC.
  • Thank you muchly

    - Your local branch should be fine, they would only pass it on anyway.

    - Send it to the same place, you sent the first, if they definitely received it, they have decided not to respond. Make sure you send it registered post, or deliver it by hand and get a receipt.

    - Just leave out that sentence about the court you will be using.
