New Car ------ No Deal

  • ...if I took the finance instead of paying cash I still saved over £350. All he did was defer £2500 for 12 months for me to be eligible...

I was offered something similar when I bought a new Ford in a cash/part exchange deal last year.

Because I didn't want finance, I turned it down without looking into it.

Think I may have missed a trick there.

    Never mind.

Not that I'd ever recommend buying from them, but Dagenham Motors are offering them at £8995.

    Metallic paint extra (£450)

If I go down to the same two showrooms tomorrow I can`t see them offering anything different.

Anyway here are the car details and if anyone can do better from a showroom let me know.

Fiesta Studio 1.25 (60 bhp) 3 door hatchback Ford RRP £9995 plus £470 metallic paint.

Total: £10,465 on the road (12 tax)delivery etc.

    DTD: £9,301
    Autobytel: £9,426

I`ve never used any,but my son bought his car from via Autobytel about 4 years ago with no problem.

It looks like I`ll be going with DTD because local garages won`t/can`t COMPETE.

    Recession? what recession!

Still comparable to Drive-the-Deal and Autobytel.
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark

Not following your comment RE: broadspeed not being 'local' - neither are DTD?

The point of me starting this thread was to highlight the fact in these current, depressed, hard-up times when you try to do business locally, they don`t want to know.

Even when you show them prices online such as DTD, they will not match the price, and furthermore my two local main Ford dealers said they couldn`t knock anything at all off the particular model and spec I wanted, and had to stick to the official Ford RRP.

I`ve only just got back home a couple of hours ago but I will take time to have a closer look at Broadspeed.

Without any doubt, you have to go online to get a good deal, local showrooms might as well close because they`re living in the past.

Yes but slightly dearer and you wouldn`t recommend them!
  • You will definately get a better deal by going in to a showroom. I bought a Ford Fiesta Zetec S in July last year and managed to get it for less than a pre-reg or six month old car, I did a lot of research online first and knew exactly the model, colour and extras I wanted.

    Thanks for your input.

I don`t know if you bothered to read this thread before posting but the gist of it is
I`ve gone to two local Ford main dealers and they wont discount so now I`m looking to buy onlline because they will.

I did bother to read the thread, as far as I can tell you have phoned two ford dealers - you have not 'bothered' to go into the dealers in person.

All I know is that I got a far better deal in person at a main dealer than the online brokers can come up with.

Ford Online have discounted their own recommended retail price to £8995 + met, if a Ford dealer can't match their own online price ie. 'Double the Discount', it's splashed all over their website, then ring a Ford Dealer that will match it.
My Sister bought a Fiesta last year, her local Ford dealer (York) didn't give her anyway near as good price as a less local dealer (Wetherby).
She tried three different dealers, I went to one, showed them the best price I had found at 'Ford Online' and they immediately agreed to match the price.
You need to find your nearest Ford dealer that supplies cars to Ford Online, it will probably be on the website. Google 'Ford Online', it's an official Ford Website.
