What would you recommend instead?
The Sun newspaper has more readers than say the The Independent, that doesn't make it a better newspaper.
Ford have always flooded the business market with huge discounts to attract them, whilst milking the private buyer.
Honda, Toyota or even a Hyundai or Kia.:)0 -
Personally when I am looking I know the price I want to pay before I go into the showroom. I will then have a chat and to allow the local dealership a turn I might be willing to pay a few hundred pounds more than my best online quote.
To be fair to you OP none of the dealerships have ever got the order. But I would still give them the chance you never know when you might need bit of goodwill and buying from the dealership might just help with that.0 -
Tried the Mazda 2?...............i got a DTD price, and they matched it Over the phone!, and Mazda discount for having their "terms" yes I know you pay interest, but the discount work out more, and you can invest the "cash" to get interest.0

we used drive the deal may 2009 and got nearly 6000 pound off a brand new crv, we sold it the other week for what we paid, but i tried the same car on drive the deal the other day and they couldnt offer anything off.
I wouldnt buy a brand new ford unless you get a real good deal they lose to much money very quickly, i get a discount through the ford privelige scheme as ford used to own the company i work for, but its still not enough for me to buy one.
its a known fact ford make more money by finance and the one thing i could never get my head round was they were offering big discounts to employees and then offering them finance with a high apr, which would mean the employee paying more than what anyone off the street would pay.
surely ford should look after their employees. no wonder theres not many fords in the car park.
Mind you i do like the mondeo and you can get a 2009 one for 9000 pounds these where 19999 brand new, thats why i would never buy a ford.0 -

Ah.....that brief moment in time when they were virtually giving cars away.
But it was very very brief

Thanks for all the replies.
I`m a bit pushed for time right now, but all in all you have to go online to get any decent discount because the local showrooms don`t seem interested.
As regards not giving a price over the phone, well they did give me one
the RRP.
If these so-called salesmen were really hungry for business all they have to say is "I can`t give you a price over the phone but if you could come and see us we`ll see what we can do".

I will have a look at Broadspeed when I get time but once again it`s online and not a "local".
At the moment it looks like I`ll be ordering from DTD.0 -
I've heard good things from friends about www.dealdrivers.co.uk too, very similar to DtD in the way they work. Haven't used them myself however, so can't relate first hand experience to you. I think they are generally competitive.
Hope that helps.0 -

Not following your comment RE: broadspeed not being 'local' - neither are DTD?
Also, broadspeed are part of the inchcape group. If you buy from them the nearest inchcape ford dealer will contact you directly and you simlpy deal with them. Best of both worlds methinks.0 -
Not that I'd ever recommend buying from them, but Dagenham Motors are offering them at £8995.If I go down to the same two showrooms tomorrow I can`t see them offering anything different.
Anyway here are the car details and if anyone can do better from a showroom let me know.
Fiesta Studio 1.25 (60 bhp) 3 door hatchback Ford RRP £9995 plus £470 metallic paint.
Total: £10,465 on the road (12 tax)delivery etc.
DTD: £9,301
Autobytel: £9,426
I`ve never used any,but my son bought his car from via Autobytel about 4 years ago with no problem.
It looks like I`ll be going with DTD because local garages won`t/can`t COMPETE.
Recession? what recession! The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Our local Ford dealer are offering the Studio at £8995 + met, but if you take out Ford finance they knock another £500 off.
When I bought mine last year I was paying cash + my P/X, but the salesman worked it out even with interest 4% APR, if I took the finance instead of paying cash I still saved over £350. All he did was defer £2500 for 12 months for me to be eligible.
I am due to pay the balance in April, but that's not a problem because I had the money, I just had to hang on to £2500 for a bit longer.
When I bought mine I got the cheapest price from Ford online, went into my local dealer with the price written down on a scrap of paper,
showed it to the salesman and said can you do me that Fiesta for that price, he said no problem we supply Ford online in this area.
But what I actually bought was a model they had in stock with Magenta paint and parking sensors, folding mirrors and bluetooth for about £500 more than a basic with non metallic. It was brand new un-registered.
