When I lived in the refuge, the rent was about £450 a week which mainly consisted of 'support' not that we got much of that! So the OP's accomodation cost seems right for they type of place it is.

The refuge that I am in currently the rent is £234 a week with a £19 service charge on top, so the OP's rent is more than what it is through a womens aid refuge.

Just as an added note the rents are different in different womens refuges.

A friend of mine is currently in a 2 bed temp accommodation given to her by the homeless section of the council although its a private rent. Her rent is £92 a week.

RTB are being stopped though (I think) when we did a house swap just last year we didnt have RTB anytime in the future. I think only current tenants do and I for one don't like the idea of RTB, but I can understand loosing a fmily home. Less housing for the people who need it. Why should smeone who works and can afford private, whether they are currently in HA property or not, live in a HA property.
Are new HA tenants going to be having checks done every so many years and moved on if they can afford it?

    Hi,

My family and I (10 week old baby, 3yr old and partner) were moved out of our council house by the police and the council due to severe harrassment and threats from our neighbour.

Initially we were put in a B&B and are now in a temporary accomodation flat while we are relocated.

I earn £27,000 a year and my partner is on long term incapacity. We are not entitled to HB but our rent has increased from £240 per month to £964 because of the move. We simpy can't afford to pay this and we are running up huge debts! If we were removed from our house at no fault of our own are we liable for all this rent. We are also paying £100 to have our household goods in storage and £400 to put our dog in kennels...don't know where to turn for help :(

Because we need to pay £800 per month for kennel and storage costs for our furniture, I need to pay more to travel to work as we have been put in the middle of nowhere (£200 per month train fair) We are now on prepayment meters costing us approx £40 per week in electricity and gas. Leaving us £460 per month for food and anything else we need to buy.

It's not about not wanting to move to private letting because of the money - it's about the council failing to provide us with safe accomodation in the first place and moving us out of our home instead of moving out the person causing the problems!

I am confused OP first you said you paid £100 for storage in the OP now you claim it has shot up to £400, which is it? because a £300 difference is a hell of alot and you might want ot talk to the storage company about this error (whichever it may be)

Also living on £1500 is easy, we get less than that in total for income and pay out £700 of it in rent so at least you do not have to worry about finding the rent as well out of your £1500. I agree with another poster that you might need to look at your spending for shopping etc and pop over to the OS board to get some hints on how to reduce your shopping bill. My shopping bill for example is now £200 per month for 2 adults and 2 children and this includes food for over 10 pets plus cat litter and wormers so I think a family of four with one dog should manage it pretty well.

Sorry if this sounds harsh but I just cannot believe someone on your wage is having kittens about paying a normal rent, I wish I had your wage and paid your rent I would still be better off than I am now.
