I was not on benefits. I paid full rent and CT.
You don.t deserve to be helped by anyone cos you feel you have been hard done by.
Wish I was in a job the paid 27 grand a year especially in Fife.
I am still employed and I along with many others do not feel we need to subsidize you or your family.
  • Funny that just on a post below mine you are asking me to subsidise yours! Hypocrite much....!

You are asking for housing benefit on £525 despite having an income of almost 4 times that including your Mums money! Hilarious!
  • Anyone can get a decent paid job, you just need to work hard and keep trying to move up the pay scale. I'm only 22, left school at 16 with no qualifications and have had two kids since then and I still managed it.

That's not fair when you yourself have asked about claiming housing benefit.

When I was homeless we was in 2 different temp accomodation both were same prices as normal council rent , fiest was £70 WK and 2nd £55
Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.
  • In my tenancy agreement I have a breakdown of the costs - £350 accomodation, £200 per month furnishings, £230 24hour support and repairs and £175 homeless support and agency access.

We were in a B&B before this property at a cost of £382 per week, then moved into a 4bedroom house at £243 per week and when they found out I was working they moved us into the cheapest accomodation that they have available which is the one we are in.

If people are saying that we are being conned then I will be contacting the council first thing tomorrow morning!

Because we need to pay £800 per month for kennel and storage costs for our furniture, I need to pay more to travel to work as we have been put in the middle of nowhere (£200 per month train fair) We are now on prepayment meters costing us approx £40 per week in electricity and gas. Leaving us £460 per month for food and anything else we need to buy.

It's not about not wanting to move to private letting because of the money - it's about the council failing to provide us with safe accomodation in the first place and moving us out of our home instead of moving out the person causing the problems!

I've just been on the Rightmove site and there are many properties for immediate rental in the Fife area. Reasonably nice family size properties start around £500 per month. Your £800 per month kennel and storage costs would stop straight away and you could easily pay a lot more than £500 out of your net income for rent if you so wished. Stop bleating and join the real world.
    It's someone else's fault.
  • Already said a few posts back that we are going to private let :)
  • I'm in Temp accomodation, a 2 bed flat, the rent is higher, but only because it is a private rental property, basically the landlord gives the property to the council to rent and the council pay them to top amount of LHA for that size property in the area.
When I lived in the refuge, the rent was about £450 a week which mainly consisted of 'support' not that we got much of that! So the OP's accomodation cost seems right for they type of place it is.
  • Is buying out of the question? Renting seems such a waste and you don't have a bad monthly income, mine is half what you get with no benefits and I have a mortgage and manage ok. :)
