In January 2007 I left the father of my eldest 2 children after years of physical, mental, financial and sexual abuse.
In the past 4 years he has found me on multiple occasions (nhs records were being used to locate me).
I met someone else 2 years ago got into a relationship with him and fell pregnant with my 3rd child, I was found again I had to up and leave.
4 years on and I am sat in the 4th womens refuge. My children are aged 5, 4 and 1.
My 5 year old has attended 4 different schools already through no fault of our own because we have had to move for our own safety.
Last Wednesday someone with in social services made one hell of a mistake and revealed our location to someone that they shouldn't of. Myself and my children are now currently 'prisoners' within the refuge because there is nowhere else for the council to put us.
They don't have any temporary accommodation available, infact they don't have any accommodation at all! The nearest womens refuge with space is currently 90 miles away. Which would mean starting again in a new area AGAIN.
Private rented is very few and far between.
My children don't know what it is like to have a place to call home. They have lost everything on multiple occasions through no fault of their own.
You have enough money coming in to rent privately, instead of thinking that it is your right to be housed in a council house because you had one and it wasn't your fault you had to leave why don't you think about those that don't get that choice because there are people with enough disposable income taking up social housing when it is not a necessity.
Not a personal dig at the OP maybe just a dig in general because im now on month 5 of living in a refuge and have no idea where i could end up with my children next week.
Seriously you don't know how good you have it.
I know how I struggled in the refuge, luckily my stay was only 4 months, but 4 nights was more than enough as it was!

Wish that if people were going to post and pass judgement that they would read the whole thread...
To summarise:
They are a family of four (two adults and two kids) and have a £2600 a month income. They were in a council house paying next to nowt and then were moved into temporary accommodation costing them £950 a month and somehow despite having £1500 a month on after paying for the roof over their head are apparently incapable of living on that amount. They seem to think that it is the job of the council to find them accommodation for a pittance and they won't entertain private rented because it costs more than council housing.
Perhaps you'd like to explain where I'm wrong about them having £1500 a month after paying for the roof over their heads to pay utility bills and put food in their mouths and the above??0 -
Because we need to pay £800 per month for kennel and storage costs for our furniture, I need to pay more to travel to work as we have been put in the middle of nowhere (£200 per month train fair) We are now on prepayment meters costing us approx £40 per week in electricity and gas. Leaving us £460 per month for food and anything else we need to buy.
It's not about not wanting to move to private letting because of the money - it's about the council failing to provide us with safe accomodation in the first place and moving us out of our home instead of moving out the person causing the problems!0 -
Surely this thread can be laid to rest now..
Advice on how to go about complaining about OP being moved instead of the awful neighbour who's caused all the hassle to 3 families has been given.
Options have been given with the put up with the situation until the council move, having the dogs temporarily housed by a charity or going privately rented. It is now the OPs decision on what should be done given it is her and her families lives.
Although £400+ is more than enough for food for a family of 4 for a month - have you looked on the old style board for cheaper ways of creating healthy meals?Daughters Sealed Saving Pot - start them young :money: £90 :T0 -
We have decided actually decided that as long as we can find suitable accomodation that we will be moving in the next few weeks - it can be tricky finding somewhere that will except 2 kids, a rottweiler puppy and a partner on long term incapacity benefit but have been trawling through gumtree and am waiting to hear back about a few.
Thanks for everyone who posted0 -
Letting agents should be willing with the children.. pets is a little more tricky - they may just ask for a larger deposit. It makes no odds that your partner is on long term incapacity as you are earning a decent wage yourself. Good luck.Daughters Sealed Saving Pot - start them young :money: £90 :T0

I live in Scotland, Fife too and was also unfortunate to end up in homeless accommodation (through no fault of my own)
This is a load of ***t OP has been spouting.
It does not cost you any more to stay in homeless accom. than it is to rent any normal house from the council.
Why does she need to pay child care when her OH is at home .
It is people like her that is causing a housing shortage for people who really need a roof over there heads.0 -
Seriuosly...kelpie you have no clue at all what you are talking about. No matter what council you are in temporary accomodation costs more! I imagine the reason you are saying that it costs no more is coz u were on bennefits therefore don't actually understand paying rent out of ur own pocket.
I pay for childcare because my partner goes to counselling and pyhsio twice a week and therefore require someone to look after my daughter while I work - not that my childcare has anything to do with this at all.0 -

Kelpie does pay rent you only need to look at their other postsWins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -
Yeah I did after I posted lol. Anyways, why on earth would I go through all the bother of making up my rent costs...anyone who has ever paid for homeless accomodation knows how expensive they are. Even hostels cost a minimum of £25 per night for a single homeless person.0
