Halight your post put a big smile on my face even though we don't celebrate Valentine's day.

JackieO your post made me cry. You are blessed to have had such a wonderful man and so many lovely memories.

Lou1981 congratulations on getting a job I hope you enjoy doing it. I would never have the patience.

Just a quiet day for me of cleaning but not much cooking. DH off to work with his dinner already made so it's just the kids and I for tea later so it will be whatever is in the cupboards or freezer. I will look at my meal plan and see if I have something on there that I haven't cooked yet.
Had a quiet weekend. DD2 was 4 on Saturday... she's only a wee tiddler and when I told her she was now 4, she was standing in front of the mirror on tippy-toes to see how much she had grown, bless her wee cotton socks! Let her bake with me as a special treat. We made egg-free coconut cake, triple choc muffins and barm brack.

JulieGeorgiana, do you have a list of the foods your eating, sounds great and healthwise I really need to change my diet but don't know were to start. Any info would be great:)

I am using a Collins Gem GI book (and have ordered the GL book too), the books explain how it works, and advice about actual 'diet plans' which follows a traffic light system (Green I can eat, Orange I should eat less off, and Red I can't have at all!!!!)

However if you eat a little orange with a lot of Green the over all GI lowers!!

I can eat Rye Bread, Stoneground wholemeal Flour (turned into bread, Yorkshire Puddings etc), Wholemeal Pasta, Rice and Pitta.

I cannot eat white bread, pasta or potatoes!

I personally also have to stay low in the Carbs, so even though Rye Bread is Green, I can't eat shedloads because the carbs are higher. Which means personally I have to half my bread, rice and pasta portions too!

I can eat meat, cheese and eggs, nuts, seeds and a lot of veg.

I have to avoid some fruits, all dried fruits, and starchy root vegetables (Parsnip, swede and turnip).

I do recommend the book, I paid £2.99 from Amazon (My review is on there too!), and you just follow the guide... so no counting and weighing (unless like me you have to keep your carbs low), you just eat a lot of Green, some orange and avoid reds.

PM me if you want to know the colour of any food types, because you have to be careful... Bran Flakes are Red, Musli Orange, Porride Oats are Green!

Morning all, and Happy Valentines Day! We havent done valentines for 21 years, as it is DDs birthday, but got up this morning to a nice card. DD's boyfriend stayed last night so he could give her her birthday surprise, so they appeared just before 9 with her announcing " Yay, Im going to Paris and to Disneyland!!!" Hopefully she will enjoy her birthday as much as her party! Back to OS after a hectic weekend, WM is on 2nd load, dinner is defrosting, and must go see what room needs blitzed on the flylady list today! Have a good day, and big hugs to all who need one!

  • Good Morning All

Thanks to halight for making me smile and JackieO for bringing tears to my eyes.

I`m not feeling too good today and am wondering why I am going to work today. If I worked in an office I would have rung in sick but because I work from home I just carry on.
Had a long weekend because I had a day off on Friday and then have spent most of it feeling ill and sleeping. Seem to have some sort of throat infection and a fever. Hopefully I will soon be on the mend though. Why do I always get ill when I have a days holiday?

Haven`t done much OS wise over the weekend. Went to DD for dinner yesterday. She cooked a lovely roast and made a trifle. She has learnt so much since she moved into her flat last year :)

Plan to carry on with the decluttering this week once I start to feel better.

Plan to have stew for tea.

    Have a good day everyone.
  • Morning everyone and a Happy Valentines Day :happyhear

JackieO - I thought your post was beautiful, it seems so rare these days that people find their soulmate as you did, it sounds as though you were truly blessed. I hope your dd enjoys her new job :)

Lou1981 - I am a dinner lady at ds school. You will really enjoy it I'm sure - kids are amazing to work with, you'll have so much fun with them.

Halight - your post did make me laugh :rotfl: you sound like my dh.

I am planning to cook dh his favourite tea tonight, steak and chips with mushrooms and peppercorn sauce. Still have to go shopping to buy it all - still haven't bought his card :o Will make up for it tonight though.

I hope you all get spoilt rotten x

Decluttered front room, well nearly, all the toys are sat on the sofa waiting to go upstairs which is my next job, i just gave into temptation from this staring at me :D

    Morning all!

Happy valentines day, to those that celebrate it.

I used to get really upset with my OH, for not getting me a rose or bar of choclate but now i'm not bothered in the slightest.

Been together 11 years, will be 12 years in June, and he tells me he loves me everyday, what more could i ask for. So i'm truly happy with my DH.

    Lovely post Jackie0 xx

Not sure what were doing today, we all had pancakes for brekkie, got either mince mix or sausages for tea. They both defrosting, so whatever comes first will get eaten. Easy or what lol

But for now, think i'm dragging OH to see how much gooseberry / rhubarb plants are. Manage to kill every plant / twig thing we've had in the past two years. So maybe this will be lucky year. I mean who else can kill them? My partner justs laughs at me and says only you can kill a weed without touching it! Cheeky get, but yet so true:o

J O enjoyed reading your post very much, thank you x :A
DH and I will be 37 years this July. We hug, hold hands and say love you to each other every day. I know I am one of the luckiest people in the world :j I give him the same Valentine card every year - it has a private joke for us:) We don't go in for flowers and choccys.
Curry now made and letting the flavours blend. After adding the lo gravy it is rather broth like.
Kitchen cleaned & oven. DW unloaded and on again. WM on and it looks like I might get it out on the line (fingers crossed). Bread will be ready in half an hour. Still need to attack the loos and vacuum through. Must get off here and do something productive:)
    Good day all, Silver x

  • Afternoon everyone :D

Hailight - you make me laugh, such a charmer ;)

JackieO - Your post was lovely, made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside :)

Jools - Happy Birthday to your DD

Busy morning, went shopping and put it all away. Then got stuck in reorganising one of my store cupboards. It was a bit of a mess so now it's tidy or as we say in our house " sleeping with the enemy" (check out the film where Julia Roberts has to line all the food up neatly in the cupboards etc LOL).
Did some housework and scrubbed tha stairs and put the vac all round. This is the 3rd week I've stuck to my plan of cleaning one room a day :T Have to say whilst the tip it becomes at the weekend bothers me I do feel better knowing it's been cleaned once a week. Bargainbird - cleaning the oven? No need I have one that's self cleaning ;);)
Going to play with DD and write up some planning this afternoon before the school run starts again.

Enjoying the gorgeous sunshine and blue sky although not sure the cat likes it being cold - she's so nesh the fussy beggar :rotfl:I've waited for weeks to let her out and now she doesn't want to go!

Thought I'd share with you a song I posted on FB for my H. We walked down the aisle to this (or at least a version played by a string quartet).

Happy Valentines to you all and big hugs for those of you who aren't in a position to be with the one they love xxx

Hugs, spoons and high fives all round. Have a good day OS or not.
