Guess what - went for coffee with OH this morning and he didn't ask for a divorce!!!!! Very surprised as I thought he would. Things haven't been going very well for us recently and as he becomes more withdrawn into his computer I was expecting him to have to own up to a cyper affair - or whatever they're called. Very surprised indeed - he even held my hand - guess it has to happen once a year!
OS wise - have found some things around the house as I fly that I am going to sell because they just get in the way, and we don't need them. Have found some christmas present things to make a start on - all home made this year, and also some seeds that will need planting out to spring into life in our conservatory (this time of the year its our greenhouse!). I found lots of darning / mending that needs doing, and some bits and pieces that I will pass on to friends. So will spend some time getting that done this week too. Right off to make milkshakes for the children as they race in from school!Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -

House clean and tidy - WM on with second load, first load dried indoors as I hung it up before I left for work.
Mushrom risotto for tea for me - not sure whether the chaps will want any.
No valetines card for me but have had 2 romantic texts instead.:)
cant think of anything else to report just yet - off to read the thread xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
have had a vry quick scan of the thread.
JackieO - 2 beautiful posts from you, brought a tear to my eye. What a wonderful family you have and I just love reading about them. Its been said before but you should definitely write a book - you're such a brilliant writer:)
Halight - loved the posts:D :T
we've been married for 23 years in March and together for 28 and still going strong.
Do what you love :happyhear0 -
halight OK so its soppy and daft but in this miserable world what's nicer than to treat your special person extra specially today. I was married for alomost 40 years and my late OH never missed a Valentines day card,(and I've kept them all) and today was always a special day for us.We even tried to get married today, but as you have to book up months in advance we had to settle for 16th February instead .We would have been married 49 years this Wednesday.
As I had only met him on 6th January that year we had only known each other 41 days,I was even engaged to someone else at the time, but knew the minute I met him that I was going to marry him. Everyone said I was nuts that he was
A too old for me (from my middle brother)he was 13 years older than me
B I was far too young (from my eldest brother) I was 19
C it wouldn't last 6 months (this was from my Dad),
but last it did, and we never let the romance die from our relationship.
We held hands when we were out, right up until his death in 2003.In fact I was still holding his hand when he passed away. Our two daughters said we were like pepper and salt we were so close.Probably why even to today I still miss him very much. But I also have so many happy memories of the times we had It is a day when I remember how lucky I was to set eyes on him in the first place. So Valentines Day isn't just about over priced cards and soppy messages in newspapers, its about taking stock of the one person who is important to you in your life, and telling them that, and how much you care for them.
Right now back to the day-to-day stuff of living,I have the school run this morning for DD as she starts her new job this morning, fingers crossed for her.She is looking forward to it but like anything new a little nervous. Then I have some banking to do ,but no food shopping thank goodness.I must remember to read the gas & electric meters as well as I send them online to EDF.Big bills looming at the end of the month:eek::eek::eek: Oh well no point worrying about it.I hope everyone has a good day and gets spoilt rotten by their OHs
take care all
JackieO xx
Ok sorry my post up set you:A:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -
Good morning,
I'm keeping the house elf off school today as he has man flu. How do they learn about man flu when there isn't a man in the house? He actually has a slight cold but you would think he was on his last legs. He was talking a lot in his sleep last night though, so as he had a disturbed night I will let him have a sofa day today. It doesn't seem to be bothering his appetite though. He's been up since 4:10am and he's on his second breakfast.
I think I will strip the beds today and clean the bedrooms while I'm at it. We have cakes and cookies already made, so I may try and crack on with knitting the house elf's scarf. I was contemplating making some Twinks yesterday, so may do that as well. The elf will help me decorate them as he is an "excellent sprinkler" he tells me. I wasn't actually planning on decorating them....The little pest has just asked me if he can have a dentist appointment in school time. Shows how much he likes school huh?
Take care all of you
Edited to add a special hug for JackieO. I miss my husband every day too.
NO, NO, NO,NO,NO,NO AND NO!!!
Your little man dose not have man flu!!! There is no thing called man flu!
Your little man is ill, its been proven that colds/Flu affects men a lot more than women!!!
So please be nice to him. Us men do tend to feel unwell a lot more than women. Its in the geans you see..
I hope your little biy feels a bit better soon.:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -

Hi everyone,
I hope those that do Valentines, enjoy it.Blimey Halight, nearly needed sunglasses this morning with all the smilies- thank you :T
I read most of the thread earlier, then got a call from the Estate Agent- a couple were outside and wanted to view .Given that I was putting some flatpack bar stools together at the time, and was surrounded by boxes,I declined:D,but said they could come back at 4,so I spent the afternoon rushing round like a mad thing.DSons were in for part of the afternoon and hoovered up and down, and helped with the kitchen so it all got done in time. They seemed to be here ages, and went upstairs twice. We shall see... I f eel shattered now so I'm having a minute before I start on tea.I had a loaf in the bm while they were here-it had almost finished so smelled really nice, but I didnt do it on purpose-honest :rotfl:I think we'll have pasta for tea as I have a 3 cheese sauce that needs using.
Hugs for anyone who wants one, have a nice evening.xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Hi all
Quiet day here! No OS yet but am just going to blitz the lounge and hall for 30 minutes!
Chilli and rice for dinner - no cooking - out of the freezer! Might retry the veggie crisps too!
Enjoy the love!
