Old style Valentine's day 14th febuary 2011

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for moneday 14th Feb. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

    Morning Halight, Morning Everyone x

I had a busy weekend (and very not OS!), I've had to change my lifestyle to Low GI to try and cope with Insulin Resistance (associated with PCOS). So buying everything has been really very expensive (Wholewheat Flour, Pasta, Rice etc). Made some bread over the weekend and have done really well. I lost 8.5lbs this week  which is a LOT! I will have to keep a close eye on this to ensure I don't loose to much too fast (it's a side effect of the Low GI). I have found Low GI to be relatively easy because I know eating high GI has been making me poorly so I don't seem to miss it. I'm fuller and my energy isn't flagging any more. :T

Anyway, back to today... I am having a new boiler fitted, with new valves on the Radiators and most important A Thermostat (I've not had one in 4.5 years!!) so no work today. I'm not going to get much done today as I can't use the kitchen!

Anyway, I have to walk DS to school then spend the day reading (such a hardship), then pick DS up again from school.

Dinner tonight is Nutty Chicken Curry (Adapted to suit dietary needs)!

We don't celebrate Valentines day, but I hope everyone else enjoys it x

Hope everyone has a great day x

    Jx

Good morning Halight and all those that follow! ---happy valentine's day.

İ dont think they even sell Valentine cards here so no chance of exchanging--it would mean i'd have to take my pjs off so there is little chance!! i have worn them 4 days running with only a brief interlude of wearing some clothes but DH soon instructed me to stop wearing clothes about the house and put my pjs on!

No plans today apart from going to work for about 5 or 6 lessons starting around mid day until 9 tonight-i should go to the gym between now and then but i am searching for excuses not to!--i have 4 hours but like to start off slowly on a Monday and listen to chris evans on radio 2.

i was mulling over some 'meaning' of life questions before i went to sleep last night and came to the conclusion i needed my computer at work to do some study---it was cbt based!

China with 2,2bln people have taken over the status of japan with a much smaller population--how does that not surprise me!--
i have to edit---nothing personal but i was wishing the gals happy valentines Hal lol-nothing personal lol
    mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.

I had trouble getting the car door open this morning, it was frozen shut, brrr
Fish fed, breakfast eaten, packups made, hubby dropped at the station with a banana & choc chip cake as well as his packup, I made 2 & am taking the other one to work with me for my colleagues.
Off to work soon, need to earn a crust, I wonder what traumas today will bring, last week we had hospital visits, fireworks & academy angst!
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Good Morning Folks. Seems to be raining here at the moment - doggies didn't linger over long when I let them out into the garden earlier! Must get dressed and get them walked as soon as it's properly light. DH and I are off to London today, by the first off-peak train available. We don't usually celebrate Valentine's Day either - I get so furious at the way flowers get hiked up in price for the occasion!
WM nearly finished, but I won't be hanging it outside today. Need more bread, so BM will go on when we get back. Quick tidy up in kitchen before we go I hope.
Not really read the thread properly for a couple of days - but ((HUGS)) to all who need one for any reason just now. have a good day, and Take Care of yourselves.

    Think twice before spending anything!

    Morning all,

Happy Valentines all my lovely OH has given me a card and a lovley box of thorntons chocs :A, will have to nip out and get his later on :o

Sorry about my rant yesterday :o did go up to mums and changed dads bed,and bought some washing home, dad is very frail, its so hard not to cry in front of him, at one point he was holding my hand, and my dd walked in with some tablets for him, he squeezed my hand and said, that 'dd was so special, and that I should be proud cos I had done that' , well that set me right off :o

Anyway today I need to have a clean round this morning, and do my office work, do an online shop. Dinner tonight is mushroom chow mein.

Never ending washin to do too.

    Have good days all xx

Morning everyone and Happy Valentines Day:smileyhea

Kids are off this week so they have leftover pie for lunch and its a concoction of various frozen ready meals (HM) for dinner ....DH's payday tomorrow - Thank goodness!
In my first marriage I used to get really upet at my XH's lack of participation in Valentines day as I seen it as the one day where he could show he cared (seen as he never remembered my birthday.....) now with DH today will pass like any other day - not because he doesn't care but because he tells me how much he loves me many times a day and I am thankful for him every day

Off to work for me today and DH is working this evening but we'll have a few hours in between to get mushy :D

    Enjoy your day xx

Good morning Halight, JulieG, De1amo and all to follow,
Dull and wet here so no llinedrying yet again.
Dinner will be Chinese takeaway so not at all OS, but the DGSs do love it and everyone has a good tuck-in:)
I shall make the lo lamb into curry for lunch (4 adults here for lunchtime).
I have no work today, so I need to fight grime and make this house sparkle or at least make it presentable. I am hoping the 2 lunch guests will be so overwhelmed by the appetising smell of the curry bubbling on the stove that they won't notice they are entering cobweb kingdom.
OK, off to brekkie and then grimewatch!
Happy Valentine's Monday everyone:beer:. Hugs to all those who need or want them, Silver x
I pressed "post" and my internet connection disappeared and I lost the post. Had to retype and rethink the message  These things are great when they work as they are supposed to:D
