Good morning, and happy Valentine's Day to you all :lovethoug
Have two meetings today, one just a normal team one, but the second is a focus group of staff to feed back ideas for change to the topnobs. As morale is at an all time low, and we are typical of third sector workers in being a bit militant at the best of times, I have a feeling it might get a bit hairy
As I get more and more into this being OS lark, I am finding the idea of being a SAHM more and more attractive. Just not entirely sure it counts if your "babies" are two naughty cats
I hope everyone has a lovely day, and sending positive thoughts to those of you in need of them.0 -
Morning all - happy Valentines. Loads to do here - am flying with the flyladies this week in an attempt to get the house clean and tidy. OH wants to stop for coffee after taking the children to school today (usually he can't wait to get back to his computer!) Weather looks reasonable outside, so have lots to do. Dinner tonight will be beans and sausages on toast I think.
Got to get on. x Love to all xMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Morning all
Overcast, it's obviously been raining most of the night as very wet everywhere.
DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. I got up at 5.30am to start 2nd week of the running programme, was quite chilly.
Boys played rugby yesterday, then we had roast and visited some friends, quite a chilled day. Have a special meal to cook for DH for dinner tonight for valentines day. He has a meeting straight after work tomorrow night so quiet evening for me, have got a few jobs to do so hoping to get them done whilst he's out.
Have just got my car back from the garage after being repaired, washing machine is on it's way out, so new one being delivered end of this week and now front tyre on the car has got a bulge in it and needs replacing! Well they say it comes in 3's - that's my 3 for a while I hope!
Back to work for me today, imagine it will be quite busy as Monday's generally are! Have been pretty good eating wise over the weekend, have had several glasses of wine but know that it's no good cutting everything out otherwise you feel deprived and are more likely to binge or go off track. Desserts, sweets and chocolate do not particularly bother me, I'd forgo all of those and have a glass of wine any day! No I'm not an alki either!!
Need to crack on and get ready for work, booo, hiss...
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

halight OK so its soppy and daft but in this miserable world what's nicer than to treat your special person extra specially today. I was married for alomost 40 years and my late OH never missed a Valentines day card,(and I've kept them all) and today was always a special day for us.We even tried to get married today, but as you have to book up months in advance we had to settle for 16th February instead .We would have been married 49 years this Wednesday.
As I had only met him on 6th January that year we had only known each other 41 days,I was even engaged to someone else at the time, but knew the minute I met him that I was going to marry him. Everyone said I was nuts that he was
A too old for me (from my middle brother)he was 13 years older than me
B I was far too young (from my eldest brother) I was 19
C it wouldn't last 6 months (this was from my Dad),
but last it did, and we never let the romance die from our relationship.
We held hands when we were out, right up until his death in 2003.In fact I was still holding his hand when he passed away. Our two daughters said we were like pepper and salt we were so close.Probably why even to today I still miss him very much. But I also have so many happy memories of the times we had It is a day when I remember how lucky I was to set eyes on him in the first place. So Valentines Day isn't just about over priced cards and soppy messages in newspapers, its about taking stock of the one person who is important to you in your life, and telling them that, and how much you care for them.
Right now back to the day-to-day stuff of living,I have the school run this morning for DD as she starts her new job this morning, fingers crossed for her.She is looking forward to it but like anything new a little nervous. Then I have some banking to do ,but no food shopping thank goodness.I must remember to read the gas & electric meters as well as I send them online to EDF.Big bills looming at the end of the month:eek::eek::eek: Oh well no point worrying about it.I hope everyone has a good day and gets spoilt rotten by their OHs
take care all

Halight - :heartpuls Your first post made me smile
Happy Valentine's Day all :smileyhea. In true flutterby fashion, this is the first year in about 3 that I have a potential date (or two
) for Valentine's, and what am I doing instead?! Oh yeah that's right, taking 12 teenagers away for 3 nights :rotfl: :rotfl:. Typical! I'm not bothered though, Valentine's is just another day, if you wanna be romantic you don't need a holiday to tell you to be.
So I'm off to the wilds of Brecon this afternoon with the work kids. Wish me luck! It's the first time we are cooking for ourselves so finger's crossed we all survive :rotfl:.
I'll be back Thursday afternoon, have a good week all

Morning everyone
I have decided to try and post a bit earlier, didn't manage to post yesterday though. Weather here looks ok, am off into London today, want to go to get some running shoes & kit to start my fitness campaign now that it has been just over 1 month & 1 week ofnot smoking.
Os today will empty dw, clean kitchen. Dinner will be lo pork with something. Went sofa shopping yesterday, but didn't see anything we liked. We have already seen 1 we like in jl so need to start saving. Dh did treat himself to a new tv though with some of his savings so I get the benefit too. Dh bought me a hand blender for my valentines pressie, it was what I wanted.
Jools - happy 21st birthday to your dd
Happy valentines day to those who celebrate. Enjoy the rest of your day. Hugs to anyone that
needs/wants one. Take care

Is it monday again?? Last time I looked it was still Friday.... Hope you all had good weekends - hugs if needed.
Just a quick one for now as running late and dd and ds2 are screeching at each other, on the plus side it may wake ds1 up for college!!
I've decided to do a special dinner for dh tonight as we only have ds2 eating here tonight so I will feed him early, another couple who don't really 'do' valentines either - I always think it's more for teenagers when popularity and fitting in is so important for them.
hope you all have good days - will pop back later!0 -
Good morning,
I'm keeping the house elf off school today as he has man flu. How do they learn about man flu when there isn't a man in the house? He actually has a slight cold but you would think he was on his last legs. He was talking a lot in his sleep last night though, so as he had a disturbed night I will let him have a sofa day today. It doesn't seem to be bothering his appetite though. He's been up since 4:10am and he's on his second breakfast.
I think I will strip the beds today and clean the bedrooms while I'm at it. We have cakes and cookies already made, so I may try and crack on with knitting the house elf's scarf. I was contemplating making some Twinks yesterday, so may do that as well. The elf will help me decorate them as he is an "excellent sprinkler" he tells me. I wasn't actually planning on decorating them....The little pest has just asked me if he can have a dentist appointment in school time. Shows how much he likes school huh?
Take care all of you
Edited to add a special hug for JackieO. I miss my husband every day too.0
