Evening all! Hope someone is still up so i can share my storey
OH and i went to our local for a valentines drink, we'd been in our local for a drink or two talking to the landlady (my old boss) when in walked a man on his own. He asked if he was in 'pub name' in 'town 15 mins away' we told him he was in the right named pub, but the wrong town.
It was aparent from the start that maybe he wasn't as clued up as you and I, so OH started chatting to him so see what info we could gather on him, he wasn't where he wanted to be, nor did he look comfy on his own. We found out his name and the street he lived on (the bonus to being an estate agent is i am clued up on road names in the local area) . all the while this was going on I asked the landlady to turn on the computer in her office. I don't know why (possibly because my aunty has learning difficulties etc and from research) but i could have told you the minute he walked in the young man (I say young, i'm only 2 years older than him!) had aspergers and autism. Talking to him we found out he lived in a town 20 mins away and got the train here. He didn't have a phone or wallet and was looking for someone.
I googled his address (not expecting much as i knew it was a residential area) but it turned out a company with the same name as his surname and his address and a mobile number. Phoned the number and it was his dad who had been waiting in his hometown centre to meet him. He was obviously relieved, amazed i found his contact details and was on his way to the pub.
His dad mentioned he liked plain crisps and orange juice so i got him some and tried to keep him talking, my limited knowledge told me he'd probably enjoy either art/music or numbers. - he was numbers fan so we talked about dates/numbers and also because i know the area, places he liked to go.
His dad then turned up greatful we found him and also because i could keep him in the pub instead of going back out to look for the friend he wanted to find.
It wasn't a romatic evening out with my OH but I feel so good for atleast making sure the guy didn't get lost or in trouble. And it's fired up my passion for helping people and maybe i will look into volentary work.
Hope everyone had a lovely evening xxAnnual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500

I'm just glad that we found him instead of someone who maybe wouldn't have his best interests at heart! Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500

Well you'll have the thanks of me and all the other ASD mums here who worry about what will happen to our boys when they are older. Hopefully if they find themselves in a sticky spot, they'll find a Bramble. Night night love. xxxIt's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your window
