Standard letter from A&L as you'll read from other user's experiences, you need to send off the next letter suggesting you will now take them to court.0

You should be able to reclaim these charges. Initially I would approach them informally and ask for a refund. If they don't play ball, you may need to start a claim. Please see the two links in my signature.0 -
I started months ago to reclaim bank charges with A&L. I applied for £436 (not requesting interest) At 1st they declinged, then they said they were reviewing, then wrote me a letter saying in line with credit cards charging £12 they were offering me £132. I wrote back to say this didn't even cover the difference between the cost of £12 and the amount charge and wanted the amount in full. They then said they were closing matter and didn't think i had grounds to complain. Am now not sure whether to go to financial ombudsman or go to the courts as reluctant to pay more money out with them contesting at last stage. Any one with any experience or advice0

Even the Office of Fair Trading’s figure of £12 is still “extravagantly” higher than the cost of administering a late payment or going over your limit and therefore unlawful. All that happens is that the computer adds the charge to your account. You don’t usually even get a standard letter.
Unfortunately, the Financial Ombudsman will also only request that the company involved pays the difference between the current £12 charge and any older and higher charges, so is not an alternative to court proceedings for these claims.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -

Having done one heck of a lot of reading of threads and (hopefully) nearing the end of my claim, A&L do seem to pay out smaller amounts sooner rather than later, but you will probably have to start court proceedings ... it's their policy I believe that they do not pay out before.Wins since 2009 = £17,600MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS0 -
I hope someone can help, I have started the process of reclaiming my bank charges from Alliance and Leicester, they repsonded to the initial letter saying it is actually credit card charges that are illegal and not bank charges! Undeterred by this I sent the second letter and now they have replied to that with a standard letter saying they are investigating my complaint.
The question is how long should I wait before contacting them again? Should I give it the 14 days from when I sent the second letter and contact the court or wait longer or send another letter to the bank?
Has anyone else had this experience?
Appreciate any help0
