Hi
First time posting so bear with me ! Have put in a request for information with A&L on the 15th Jan. They have taken the £10 cheque with no information as of yet. This morning I noticed they have taken 4 x £5 copy statement charges ?? Can they do this ? If so, can I reclaim these charges when I put my claim in ?0 -

Phone your bank and tell them to put these charges back!!!
Explain your request for statements was made under the Data Protection Act, and the maximum they can charge is £10 in total which you sent a cheque for.How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Alliance and leicester...
I have all my statements for the last six years already, should i just use these to calculate my charges or should still do the initial letter requesting the bank statements as part of the process?0 -
If you have the statements already there's no need to do the SAR. It'll just slow down the process. I was in the same position with A+L and claimed back over £900 without having to send off a request for statements. Send off your prelim letter including your list of charges"Think for yourselves and allow others the privilege to do so too." Voltaire.0

I have sent off my second letter now threatening court action over my claim for £6542. The first letter was acknowledged with the standard go away letter. I am planning on going through moneyclaim an reducing the claim to the small claims limit of £5k because having read this forum it sounds like the easiest option. Should I claim the other £1.5K seperately or just let it lie. Any help much appreciated0

hi nel.
if its martins interest calculator uve used, then yes thats fine. if its just an ordinary calculator with a till roll attached for a print out, then i wouldnt do it this way. with martins calc, it specifically lists the date of the charge and it works out the interst due to you. this way A&L wont be able to prolong the claim as thet have all the info there on one (or more) bit of paper.
