At last I've actually got the money from A&L! The cheque from Liverpool County Court arrived this morning - £3134.64.

To refresh, I was claiming business bank charges of £2307 plus £652.64 interest taken from my account over the past 6 years. And £175 in court costs. A&L refused twice to even negociate a settlement, so I took them to court, and surprisingly they filed their intention to defend a day too late. Nice to have been able to laugh at Wragge, Tag & Bobtail's letter :p

The warrant was issued on 4th May after judgment was made against them, and it took A&L 12 days to actually cough up to the bailiffs. 4th June is when I received the cheque, 2nd March is when I first wrote to A&L, so it's taken what has seemed a very long 3 months to bring this all to a successful conclusion. :j :j :j

Good luck to you all still facing uncertainty in your claims.

I have just submitted my claim with mcol. Do I allow 5 working days or just 5 days for the claim to be serviced? Do I then allow 14 days from that date? I'm thinking it will either be the 25th or 27th June??????
  • I have been helping a work friend reclaim. The amount of her claim is about £700. She has been offered £264 which represents the difference between the £35 bounced item charges and £12. She was going to accept this until we realised that A&L had ignored all the £25 unauthorised OD charges. Is there a suggested OK figure for this type of charge like the £12 one?

I should add that my friend is not keen on going down the court route and for her it is important to be able to keep her existing account open.
    All helpful advice gratefully recieved

If she reclaiming on a bank account, the £12 figure has nothing to do with bank accounts. Even on credit cards, it is just a figure the OFT will not take action at.

I suggest she goes for the whole amount unless the bank cares to provide a breakdown of their actual costs.
