?Morning folks, been up for a wee while but having an easy morning as no-one here which is unusual, so will browse online til 9. Have some invoicing to do this morning, and will throw a pot of soup on and fill the slow cooker with beef olives for tea. Hubby came home with a large bag of tatties and two huge 'neeps' aka turnips, yesterday some farmer gave him so these will accompany the beef olives, the neeps are as big as footballs, nothing like the little ones you get in the supermarkets. I will have to find some nice recipes to use them up. I am sure if I put one in the garage it should keep ok for a good while.
Intending going for a long walk this afternoon if it fairs up here but at the moment it doesnt look too promising. All the washing and ironing is done, just need to tackle upstairs and put it all away now - dont mind washing, dont mind ironing but I cannot stand putting it all away!
Well nearly 9 so better go and stick the kettle on and have another wee cuppy before I get moving,
    have a good day,

Boiledy eggs for brekkie - it's a tradition. Thai chicken stirfry for dinner I think!

    AA

We have boiledy eggs in our house too :T

    Morning all,

Looks a little bit overcast here, but its meant to be getting better later on, I hope so as I have the first of three washes in.

Came down the stairs to a little surprise from little dog, so have dealt with that.

Today we need to have a hoover through downstairs, tidy lounge and kitchen, and deal with the washing.

Dinner tonight is either a meatball sub, or an indian takeaway, my sis said they might come over and get one with us, so I will ring her later on.

Will be off out walking later on, will take mums dog too, to give her a good run.

Dazi, well done to OH on his new job :T

Cranky can't believe your MIL, you would think that after loosing her son it would make her time with the house elf more precious, I will never understand some people.

Sistercas, My dd always has two towels, which are at the moment on her bedroom floor, they will stay there till she picks them up ;)

DD is out at a sleepover, so will go and collect her later on.

    Have good days all xx

Hope you are all well, off to Murrayfield for the Scotland/Wales match in about half an hour. Going to meet up with DS2 and will get to meet his GF for the first time!!

Taking a rather large food parcel for him - managed to get 2 portions of the hm lasagne we had last night into foil dishes for him so hopefully he will be able to heat them up.

Get well to all the poorlies and all enjoy your Saturdays. Take care. XX

i am getting up later and later! 18 posts on the board and i am still in my pjs--good morning to you all!

i am at home for the forseeable and Mrs De is off out to work at sometime-so it is how it should be! i have to wait for a locksmith that DH will summonse from the local neighbourhood. Here you get your tradesman from the little shops that abound in the surrounding locals. There is even an upholsterer and he can turn his hand to virtually anything like errecting shelves so i am virtually redundant. Before i came here i always had my father to assist and show me how jobs were done, he brought his tools with him and as any man knows a job is much easier if you have the right tools. Out here i have no tools and my dad is too old to help even if he was able to make the journey- so i am marroooned and at the mercy these days and have to shell out for even the smallest job--i never learnt the skills nor have the confidence to do things alone--so teach your kids with this in mind!--it is the norm to get things done out here but goes against my OSness!

For the rest of the day i am going to watch premier league football--all 3 games live! i was always more of a sportsman and well able to position myself comfortably to enjoy matches!--the kids in our school sometimes forgo lessons on a saturday to play basketball and i think what a waste of their time because all the sport i played at school came to nowt in the real world!-i dont say kids shouldnt play sport but to miss lessons is just wrong!

Good day to you all Greg---

Me too :D it's still early enough for pjs though!

    Cranky - I can't believe your MIL!

Well as predicted I had a fantastic time at my friend's house last night. She went all out for us and is an amazing cook! We had tapas like starters, so bread, oild, olives, stuffed mini hot peppers, meats, tomato and mozerella salad. Then an inbetween small course (amuse bouche - sp?) of soups - minestrone or butternut squash. The mains for me was roast veg risotto, and others had chicken in a tomato and mascapone sauce. Then another inbetween course of sorbet with limenchello. And for desert a sort of tiramasu/triflely thing with sponge fingers, cream, mango and passionfruit. Mmmmmmmmmm it was all delish :D. We all had a good catch up too. Didn't get back til gone 1 though so bit tired today.

I'm feeling very nauseous today (from the vertigo) but I'm determined to go out and meet my other friends for spot of shopping and lunch. Just gotta wait for my letting agent to come look at stupid storage heater and pray she doesn't want me to wait in for handyman. I need to get birthday present for a friend, plus a wedding anniversary card. And I want to go to the library.

I'm hoping to get to see metal boy later (gotta keep my options open :rotfl:), but if not it will be a quiet night in.

OS wise - WM is on now, DW will go on tonight. Flat needs a tidy but will probably do that tomorrow. I've sorted through big pile of paperwork today and filed or destroyed stuff. Also this weekend I need to go through fridge and use up/freeze any stuff as I'm away mon-thurs with work next week.

Have a good day all :)

    morning all

cranky can i borrow your name today? cos thats what i am :o sleep just isnt happening. cant blame ds as he slept through (well once he went to sleep which around 11 :mad:) he woke at 9. an hour or two if i am lucky,a night, just isnt enough :(

but the bathroom has been scrubbed, washing sorted, house hoovered - just need to run it over upstairs. and made ds a fresh batch of playdough.

not sure what the plan for the rest of the day is yet. ds is going about 12ish with his godmother until tomorrow evening. was meant to be seeing friends tonight but that depends on alan. we're not having such a great time at the moment so he may just go on his own. i've known our friend for as long as i've known alan but its his friend really so he should go. that sounds really childish :o another quiet night in front of the laptop for me i think :o cant even have a bottle of wine :( dont you just fed up with that sometimes? i dont chatting you lot but being stuck in a rut? cant you tell i'm tired :o

    have a good day eeryone

ETA sorry none of that even makes sense :o

  • Hello all, I had an interesting night, son went out with musician friends last night and wasn't driving so didn't take his car keys. On his car keys are his house keys. I slept in my riser-recliner as I wouldn't be able to sleep if I went to bed in an unlocked house, not too badly, but it's a bit ironic given that I've just shelled out on a new adjustable bed.
My own fault for not charging my phone, I bet I got a message at midnight saying he wasn't coming home!

Just a quickie from me to send ((hugs)) to you.

Another one who cannot under stand your MIL Cranky, our DS not at the kids stage yet (still career building) so we "spoil" our Great Neice and Nephews. Even if/when DS does have kid(s) he will be 200 miles away so it will not be easy to see regularly.

Dazi - You missed the Friday Donny market:eek::eek::eek: You would have loved it. Glad DH got the job, and if you want to know anything about the area just PM me.
