Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday 12th Feb. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning everyone. Can't believe that I'm starting a new thread - please feel free to merge if needed.

Still dark and cold outside today - doesn't look very welcoming. We're off to MILs today to see how she is. This is OS (despite the petrol) as she feeds us - her choice. Will be talking to OH about how frequently we go over as a family as it is getting more and more difficult. There is nothing for the boys to do there - MIL has terminal cancer and doesn't go out - there are few toys, so they just sit in front of the TV - and then we get annoyed when they get a bit hyper. From having not used their energy.

Will suggest to OH that he goes to visit once a month and we go as a family every 6 weeks max. Bless my MIL, we've been visiting every other weekend / every month for the last year so she has seen us loads more than she would normally, probably a reason why the boys are a little fed up of going there.

I have 2 clients tonight to do acrylic nail infils on - so thats a bit more cash in the box! Dinner tonight will be leftovers, and I'll get something out of the freezer to defrost for tomorrow. OH is taking me out for dinner on Valentines Day but on Tuesday the new exercise regime starts. Right DS1 is creating, so I'd better get on. Love and hugs to all x
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

Good morning esmf and all to follow,
Slept really well for the first time in ages.
Mild but murky here. Hopefully it will buck up and be line fine by the time my wash is finished.
Dinner today is chicken with 3 cheese and bacon sauce. This is a good way of using up any lo cheese in the fridge (can use more than 3 cheeses if more needs using up).
Bread needs making and the house needs dealing with!
Happy Saturday everyone, hugs for those that need them, Silver x

Morning everyone - been lurking until the thread started, so thanks!

Off up the A1 north this time to Alnwick again. Breakfast was a protein shake so I'll have a hearty lunch.

Tonight we're with friends for a 'sleep over' :j:j so plenty of OS here though I have bought some M&S puddings to take with us and some flowers.

Hope everyone is doing well, keeping their spirits up and making the most of life.
  • Morning All.

Do not adjust your sets - it is true, I am up and posting at this time in the morning! :rotfl: Got up at 6.30 with OH and am just having some peace before the monsters waken. He is off to work now, and will be gone all day. No idea what the weather is like because the curtains and blinds are closed and will be for at least 30mins more :) DS1 has footie this morning, so we are out just after nine, and DS has his youth group, then we are off to Aldi and Mr T. Don't say I don't know how to show the boys a good time! :D

Plan for the day is just housework, washing and cooking after that. We are having yesterday's food today, so quesadillas for lunch and chilli for dinner, and I need bread and the bicuit tin needs filling. Might do some gingerbread too, as its a family favourite, but I don't do it very often.

Well done to Mr Dazi on the job :D

Hugs spoons and hi fives all round, have a good day everyone!

EDIT OH has just come back in and said its freezing!

i slept well last night too, i slept on the sofa so i wasnt disturbed :D

wow jackieg early bird or what?

gers you must have an interesting job, as you seem to go all over the place. you must spend a fortune on petrol. I have no sense of direction at all even with a sat nav so i would never find where i was going :o

plans for today- a bit more sanding and filling in the bedroom then i am hoping to drag dh out to look at wallpaper and paint :D

some washing to do do and its 'towel' day I am training the DD's to have their own towel and to put it to dry and re-use it and i will change it twice a week , before they would use 2 bath towels one for body and one for hair every day , drop them on the bedroom floor wait for them to become damp and smelly then lob them into the wash basket . I would end up washing 20 plus towels a week  now i wash 4 towels just twice a week :D

right off to have some breakfast

    have a good saturday x

    Morning all

Overcast and raining again, it's obviously been raining most of the night as very wet everywhere.

Typical, on days off I wake up really early and can't get back to sleep! Wasn't particularly productive yesterday, but as had 2 days off at the start of the week, there's not much to be done, just as well really!

DH is going out to a meeting to look at a site for a forthcoming caravan rally - he'll been gone until early afternoon, so am going to use this time to be productive and get the little bit of washing dried and ironed, also need to pop to MrT's for some nice deli meat to take to grandad's for tea and have to look about for a new washing machine, mine has been on it's last legs for a while and I've been nursing it along but it started to make a really awful noise yesterday, I'm not going to spend any money on it as it's been a heap of **** since I bought it, had the engineers out to it for the same fault on so many occasions, good job I bought an extended service contract as I've needed it! Learnt my lesson about buying cheap, doesn't pay off! Have seen a nice one in my catalogue if I can't find anything that's more suitable I'll be ordering from there, can get interest free credit on it too.

Will be hoping to be able to do some cooking/baking this morning too, tins are empty so need to organise for pack-ups etc for next week.

Legs have seized up over night, so feeling a bit stiff this morning, but I'm sure it will wear off, and I'm on rest days at the moment, so will run again on Monday morning.

Need to get on otherwise I'll be on here all day!

    Have a good weekend everyone.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

    Good morning,

Well done Mr Dazi on the new job.

The house elf has trampoline class this morning, then I think I'm nipping to Te$co with my friend for some of the 3 for 2 cat food. Not that one of my furry monsters deserves feeding after she helped herself to my chicken stock yesterday. Good job I'd hidden the actual chicken. The funny noise that I heard while I was eating my lunch in the other room was actually the cat drilling through tinfoil......

I have some ironing to do later, and some more washing of course. I made cookies yesterday, so today must be cake making day :)

I was thinking last night Meanmarie that you would be on the "Good Granny" list too, along with JackieO, and Candygirl and Hardup Hester....and many others on this forum. My MIL has only seen the house elf once since his dad died. She posted his birthday and Christmas presents to him even though she's only 15 minutes down the road.

    Take care all of you

    Morning All,

Not much sleep last night as the other dog wouldn't settle, OH was up and off to work at 7:30.

I need to walk the dogs, clean the kitchen and living room, put another load on in the WM and make some treats for OH for the week ahead.

Dinner is chilli and lime chicken stir fry. Need to just get some chillis and a lime.

I want to start knitting so am going to see if my local shop has that knitting series magazine thats come out. So if i get that that is what i will do tomorrow!

    Anyone doing anything exciting today?

    Morning all
Been up since 6:30 but have had a leisurely start with hubby chatting about the garden & drinking tea.
1st load of washing is on the line & 2nd load about to be hung out, DW finished & need emptying.
I'm hoping to finish altering some curtains today, but I'm being hampered by a very painful thumb joint, it kept me awake duning the night, so I spent the time composing a complaint about this particular teachers unreasonable requests & this time it's going to be escalated.
The rest of the day will be taken up with helping Percy Thrower in the garden!
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

This is usually the weekend DS is at his dads......he went last night but is back at 12 today as it is his autism swim party later and his dad wont take him to that:( so bang goes my weekend off....never mind as long as DS is happy;):D
Fatcat woke us at 4am pestering for her tuna....I swear she does is on purpose everytime DS is away so we never get to sleep later than 4:eek:.
cranky....I love your cat...the thing on FB about her eating the stock was hilarious:rotfl:what a shame we dont live closer so we could fathom a way of each of us getting a lie in at some point between kids and cats:).

Today have a little bit of washing to do, cleaned house yesterday. May make Divas apple cake:cool:
I need to sort through my recipe collection and get some new ideas.

welldone Mr dazi on the new job:T
right off for another coffee and get started
